quote:

The man is vastly overrated, and the only reason we look better than we have in over a decade under him is because we actually sucked that badly since Urban left. He thinks he's clever, and he's not. He thinks he has all the answers, and he has, like, maybe two correct answers--three tops. And finally, he can't consistently recruit with the big boys, manage a roster properly, or hold any of his dumpster fire staff accountable for being a dumpster fire staff. Dan Mullen is not an elite coach, and he never will be. We can do better than him. Will we? I don't know because our university likes to treat coaching hires like torture porn to its fans.

Now, I know a lot of you here love Dan Mullen and would blindly trust him no matter what, even if he told you to drink orange and blue kool-aid. But that's because you likely suffer from Stockholm Syndrome and should probably seek help. K thx.

I basically said all of that in a much nicer way after the LSU game.

But yes.

I completely agree with everything he said. Mullen is good, not great. Has been his entire career, will always be.

Is the swamp burning again? I would LOVE to cover another off-season like last year again

Well that fan was spot on. Mullen doesn’t win big games as a head coach going back to Miss St. Then when you throw in all the juvenile antics he pulls and that makes you ask is he worth having as a head coach. If I was a UF fan I would say no.

I'm no Florida fan and even I've been vexed by some of his mishandling of the program. Something just seems off about this guy. He's a good enough coach to keep them winning but not enough to be relevant in the championship discussion as Florida fans would like.

What happened tonight with Trask's playing time?

Mullen is bob stoops. A really good coach but he’s not Saban or Meyer.

Good comparison. Though I highly doubt Mullen ever wins a Natty, and Stoops did win one.

Mullen is a good fit for developmental programs where he can coach and develop those hard workers and diamonds in the rough. His problem though is how he sees himself: He thinks he's elite, on par with the greats, and he's not that. He doesn't recruit at that level, and his temperament is such that he has to keep his shitty staff in tact because nobody else wants to work with him. Florida fans are seeing what State fans already know: he's an 8-4 coach who will lay eggs in big games and will always be looking for the next opportunity.
