We were at the COFH game that followed and the GT student section was booing during the Redcoat Band tribute to Larry. What a bunch of classless malcontents.

frick those guys.

Hard to believe it has been that long. I like Howard but Larry is untouchable.

Last saturday radio replayed his '92 AU call. I am so used to hearing his signature calls that I forget how he made every single down and detail meaningful. I was a nervous wreck over a game played thirty years ago!

'we are trying to hang on to a wet, muddy, semi-chewed up piece of grass. and only about 8 or 9 inches of it'

I think he made us all scared to death of every game. I got to know him pretty well through various avenues. Super nice in person. We used to frequent the same bar in Buckhead when he did the radio show in ATL. The movie night with the college girls was the only thing that threw me off on him. With that said, maybe that is why he was the GOAT.

Yeah i used to run into Larry around town and at events with mutual friends. I found the best way to approach him was to talk fishing. I figured everybody else would force him to talk football.

Ha, no doubt. Buying him gin and tonics helped too.

He had a weekly segment with Boortz on WSB that was supposed to be a 'uga report' but it was just Larry and Neal doing movie reviews and Neal trying to get Larry to describe the physical attributes of the young ladies in his movie club.

Gin and tonics huh? With his love of cigars, I had him figured for a bourbon man.
