I don’t think there’s any question and the results on the field prove it. Everybody else recruiting at a similar level is playing in the playoffs every year. UGA not so much

Outside of LSU who made it last year they don't have to go through Bama. Clemson, OSU, OKlahoma, and ND play no one during the regular season every year.

Here's the thing though. We can't get mad at fans for having high expectations. We should. That is part of a winning culture.

I agree, but their expectations should be tempered with not calling for a change. We live in an instant society that wants instant success and that simply is not the way life works. I guess it can sometimes, but it is unrealistic to expect championships to rain down immediately.

Yes, be hopeful. Be expectant. But too many of our fans want to throw the baby out with the bathwater too often.

I would say I have not seen any (many) calls for Kirby to be fired, but I do see posts saying he will never get us there, and he is the wrong man for the job, etc)
That is unrealistic.

Kirby is a top 5 coach already and more accomplished than 99.9999% of 5th year coaches.

Fans are stupid.

Agree but unfortunately we have clowns like Uncle Lou who rail against Kirby on almost every single you tube rant and actually has 30k subscribers.

He's an idiot and pretty much admits it but I see his talking points regurgitated more and more on this board. The OP obviously listens to em because the 5* development "issue" was one of Lou's rants this week.

Some one should do a blog that points out all of Lou's faults and put him under a microscope.

Oh nevermind, no one cares what that hick does.

Unfortunately some do.

He gets a shitload of clicks and has over 30,000 subscribers. I believe he now makes his living off his idiocy.

I stumbled upon uncle Lou a few weeks back, I had never heard of the dude. I listened to him for a few minutes and concluded this guy doesn't understand the game and knows very little about it. He can read the stat sheet but it doesn't go much further than that.

I agree to an extent, but why do they play so good for other programs?

There's a big difference between getting the "best" guys and getting the right guys. It's the difference between individual talent, and individual talent - even if lesser - that fits and flourishes in a particular system.

The former will often beat most opponents; the latter gives a good chance of beating all opponents.

How do 30000 people follow that dude? I admit he has the energy but good god almighty it is painful after about 30 seconds.

Well, some of us were quickly spoiled by 2017 and expected improvement in 2018 and 2019. Problem is, there were still very good teams ahead of us both those years. This season is basically a throwaway year. No spring, limited fall practice, shortened season thats an all conference schedule. Doesn't count against eligibility if a player wishes to stay another year. As frustrating as it's been, though...I'm just happy we even had a season.

Same here. Qb is a hard position to accel at no matter how many stars you had. We have to get that position straightened out to take advantage of our talent advantage. You can have the best race car and not the best driver and not like the result. Other times, you can have a ok car and a great driver and do alright.

Honestly though, at our level it takes a great car and great driver. Luckily it is just a throw away season.

Defense can only score points I directly so no matter how good they are, they have to be offset with an o that can score points.
