Do yourselves a favor and just listen to the Blake Lovell part. I listened to the whole thing and it felt like 2 hours of Tim Tebow screaming excitedly into the mic.

SEC Basketball: 3 best bets to win 2020-21 conference title

quote:

Alabama Crimson Tide (+2000)

That much uncertainty in the top group also lends itself to a team from the middle of the pack surging into the conference title race. Alabama is the prime candidate to be that team given how much talent head coach Nate Oats has accumulated on this roster.

Oats employs a wide open “pace-and-space” system that favors quick, skilled guards, and the Crimson Tide have a ton of them. They return four players, headlined by last year’s star freshman Jaden Shackelford, sharpshooter John Petty, and defensive star Herb Jones, and welcome in a litany of quality perimeter threats.

Villanova transfer Jahvon Quinerly is the most hyped addition as the former five-star prospect is expected to start at point guard after sitting out a year ago due to transfer rules. He’s a phenomenal offensive threat who can create for himself and others and fits this system to a tee. Yale grad transfer Jordan Bruner should be the centerpiece of their frontcourt with his rebounding and shot-blocking prowess.

Bruner leads the nation’s No. 12 recruiting class in which the Tide also landed top 60 prospects Josh Primo and Alex Tchikou. Primo is a versatile 6-6 combo guard who is a reliable shooter, while Tchikou will likely backup Bruner up front.

That group will be the core of Alabama’s talented rotation, but Oats should be able to routinely go at least 10 deep in his rotation and feel confident in his lineups. The Crimson Tide will need this group to mesh quickly and need Quinerly to back up the hype, yet they have the talent to compete with anyone.

Tchikou is done for the year with an Achilles injury. This program is fricking cursed.

Don’t get me wrong, this really sucks, but I’m not sure how much PT he was expected to get this year. It hurts most from a developmental aspect as Oats has referenced multiple times that Tchikou is skilled but needs to learn how to play in a team environment, not just a one on one skill training type setting.

It's also a depth thing. If you play fast both teams are going to have more possessions. More possessions means more fouls. It's just another situation where our bench gets shorter before we even play a game.

I think he was going to play enough that this hurts. I think he would've been able to make an impact defensively if nothing else.

See I was thinking he and Miles would see the least PT of all the incoming guys. As we’ve talked about before, he was my favorite guy we were recruiting before he reclassified, just from listening to Oats I wasn’t sure that he was ready to help yet. Hopefully he’ll heal fast from this and not be behind in getting ready for offseason workouts next year.

I’m not sure Gary will be healthy enough to play either so that leaves us with 11 scholarship guys. Miles probably isn’t ready for high major basketball yet so I think Oats and staff will have to find the best fit and minutes for the other 10 guys.

If Bruner goes down we are the exact same situation as last year from an interior standpoint

Offensively and effort yes. But Tchikou was gonna be a shot blocker and his length would have altered shots around the rim
