I don't think Turbo was ever brought in because of his PG skills. He was always going to be the 2. Last year the only reason he practiced at the 1 is bc early on in the practices we truly didn't have a backup PG, and when Turbo showed he was not acclimating to PG, then Samir had to fill in there when needed.

Turbo will still have a shot at the 2, because of his ability to drive and make things happen.

It is possible he will end up a player without enough playing time to find a spot for him, and enter the transfer portal.

Flanigan isn't a 2 at this point. He and Cambridge will be our main rotation at the 3. We can obviously go small and plug in one of our 2's here as well. The 2's are Turbo, Johnson and Powell in no particular order.

2022 5* PF Brandon Huntley-Hatfield has named us to his top 5. #6 player overall in the class.

I could’ve swore Flanigan started at the 2 some last season.. So Flanigan and Cambridge aren’t both going to start? And Powell will be the backup at PG, instead of Turbo?

Flanigan is at the 2. Powell at the 1. And running 2nd in the rotation and actually pushing Cooper. That’s the rumors. Take it for what it’s worth.

And for the previous comments. We will have no graduations this year so just to be able to sign Jabari someone has to leave or come off a scholarship. My guess is Franklin. We are going after combo and point guards as a second player in this class. Meaning someone else has to go. My guess is Turbo. 3rd would be after next season Johnson will be gone opening for the kid that committed yesterday. I imagine the coaches think Jaylin or Thor will break out over this season and next and be gone opening up another spot. Balancing that 14 scholarship limit is tough especially when we self imposed a recruiting cycle. We are extremely young but talented. I would say draft picks are Cooper Thor with potentially Cambridge Williams powell and Cardwell depending on how they develop and when they may be ready for the jump to the nba

Flanigan is at the 2

I know JGT has been saying this is for a while, but I just have a hard time believing our worst three point shooter is going to actually start at the 2. We will see though.

The only two things I'm sure of are that Cooper will start at the 1 and that Williams will start at the 4.

Gun to my head I think it will be:
1-Cooper
2-Turbo
3-Cambridge
4-Williams
5-Stretch

Yeah, I don't like Flanigan at the 2, if you want outside shooters.

What he does bring and coaches like is that he is a bigger guard like the 2 before him(Samir, Bryce were all taller than 6'2").

And he can man up on defense well against the other off guards. He plays D well.

I dont think he is the best dribbler as he tends to be stiff and a little awkward as he charged a lot last year.

Maybe now a year later he will have improved those parts of his game.

He did play some 2 but it was out of necessity. Unless he is hella improved he doesn't have the stroke to start at the 2. I know there isn't a huge difference in our offense between the 2 and 3 but there are small differences and an outside shot is needed to effectively play SG

What has changed from last season, besides potential improvement and our incoming class? I don’t think a tF Powell will start ahead of him at the 2.

I agree that the 2 needs to be able to shoot but we have what we have. His length and defensive ability to guard the other teams best perimeter player and his rebounding prowess, at least provides some balance. I hope his shot has improved and I’m sure he has put a lot of time working on it. I personally think Flanigan and Cambridge both will be in our starting lineup.

Maybe so.. but I don’t see any possible way Flanigan isn’t starting. He is too valuable on defense and on the boards. He is a great rebounding guard. Flanigan started last season and Turbo didn’t play near that much. Also, we would be severely limited in matching up with opposing guards, who would have a distinct advantage in height and length if we started two 6’1 guards in our backcourt. Who would guard the other team’s best perimeter player? It would also severely limit our rebounding, starting Cooper and Turbo. We just need to hope his outside shot has improved and I think it will be.

The scholarship limit is 13 and we only have 12 scholarship players at the moment, although I’m sure BP will give the extra one to one of our walk-ons for one year. Jabari would make it 13 if everyone returns next season, which would be at our limit. If we were to sign anyone else, there would need to be some attrition and the kid that committed yesterday will fill Johnson’s scholly the next season, if there isn’t any attrition. Whew..

I just think that Turbo will never be a main contributor at the 2 because of his size and attributes, especially compared to that of his teammates. I personally believe the only potential role he has on this team is backup PG.. and if Powell backs up the point, which is unusual for two true freshmen, that he will be one of the odd men out in the main playing rotation. Not that he won’t play the 2 in short spurts at times and when we’re up big, but a part of our main rotation.

Turbo can definitely play the 2 on a BP team as long he is developing well defensively.

Improvement from Turbo and Johnson. Turbo didn't get his nickname for nothing. He has elite quickness and speed. Another reason I think Flanigan plays the majority of his minutes at the 3 is someone has to take those minutes left from Okoro. Cambridge can't play all 40. Those are our only true big wings.

I see Flanigan taking a big step this year. More of how he played at Tennessee

Well of course Flanigan will play a lot of 3, I just think he’ll start at the 2 with Cambridge starting at the 3.

These conversations are getting me hyped. I‘m excited about the talent and depth on this team. I think we’re going to be a lot better than most think.

Cooper on the plains

BP has made a lot of comparisons between Coop and Harper... and I think it’s a fair comparison. The main difference is Coop is a lot better at finishing in traffic in the paint. Coop is farther along than Harper was at this point in his career and has a much higher upside. Stoked to have Coop lead this team.. he will dictate our pace and tempo.
