I had Siteman Center duties today. SO I didn't get to watch a play.
Great Win!
I'm curious of the opinions here regarding overall team improvements week 3. Oline? defense?
Thanks in advance

Quite honestly its hard to tell. LSU defense is an absolute disaster. We gashed LSU at will all day for the most part.
Play calling was much better on offense and we have ourselves a QB1 now for sure. Probably the first is becasue of the second.
Defense still has some work to do.
Special teams issues and ball security were the only real reason LSU was in the game at all in the end.

Plain and simple, we were the better team on the field. The game was close because Mizzou made it close, not because LSU made it close, if that makes sense.
No name WR's did a much better job holding onto the ball than past starters.
Bazelak is the man.
Drink did a solid job play calling but over thinks things at times.
Defense did okay considering they were forced to defend short fields due to turnovers
LSU is nothing like last year but they are still LSU. They are still loaded with 4* and 5* players. Very solid win. Happy for Drink and the players.
Strange how one game can make you go from wondering if they will win 1 or 2 games all year to know thinking that any game on the schedule is winnable.

Any overall improvement on pass defense?

Only slightly if at all. LSU's big WR lit them up, but they made plays at times. Obviously, 2 big break ups to end the game. LSU was 0 for 10 on 3rd down, so that's an improvement.

Sparks I believe was the one getting repeatedly skullfricked by Marshall.
Rakestraw didn’t give up a whole lot I believe.

I think this young man has the tools to be something special.

That was fun to watch. The motion in the backfield was nasty. The offense was unpredictable. LSU defense is bad, but they often looked confused. Pelini certainly was.
Defense was better than the score. Too many short fields caused by turnovers. Special teams need work.
Discipline! No dumb penalties! Huzzah!

They put Marshal in the slot to work against safeties. Even the last play of the game was the same thing. In the slot against a safety.

Gilbert was also working us over in the first half, but Jalani Williams knocked the shite out of him and knocked him out of the game. I’ll say this, we do have our share of coverage breakdowns, but all of our DBs are physical as hell.
Burdine got burnt a couple of times, but also had 4 PBU
And obviously Bledsoe made the play of the game.

Bazelak is good but I fear LSU is just not good. We need to treat the win like fools gold.

That’s my big takeaway from our secondary. They have their fair share of breakdowns but if you overthrow your receiver they are getting destroyed by our safeties.

Secondary played solid imo. Manual took a few bad angles but those are nothing more than coachable moments. He's big and athletic and young. Really impressed with Burdine and Rakestraw. Able to cover and NO PI or Holding penalties and both freshmen.
Turner looks better inside than on the edge. And Nikko looks to be our next great TE.
Mizzou had every reason to lose that game, and they never broke down. Even after catastrophic mistakes. Thats what makes this a good TEAM.

I just watched the game... I haven't seen so many open tosses in years... LSU's secondary was horrible.
Watching Bo Polini having a stroke on the sideline... Priceless. lol
One thing i'm not worried about is Drink keeping our players grounded.
Vandy should be a W.

We’ve played three of the top 10 WRs in the country in our first and third games.
I’m not making excuses. Probably just merits remembering.

I think that was the best offensive game Mizzou played since the Chase Daniel era. It wasn't about the points but how they put players in space.
When was the last time Mizzou beat a ranked team?

Also, I hate Bo Pelini from the Big 12 days and to stick it to him was so cathartic.

I think Barry had a couple. Probably 2 years.
