Let's all quit acting like Kirby and Mullen are questionable. Those two are going to be in the SEC CG for the next 6 years in a row.
Missouri went to the SEC CG 2 times!

No idea of why this love affair exist between Bama folks and Pruitt
He was born in Alabama, played there under Gene Stallings and Bill Oliver, and was later a GA.
He coached at high schools in Alabama, most notably at Hoover under Rush Propst, where he sometimes slept overnight on the couch in the film room and ultimately developed a taste for asparagus. (A lot of his administrative staff at UT came through Hoover.)
He's obviously had several stints as a position coach at Alabama, including as defensive coordinator.
I think he's similar to our Coach O - he's just a good ol' boy from Alabama who loves Alabama, and works his arse off, despite any shortcomings he may have.
Will he be successful as a head coach? Who knows? But as a fan, how can you not root for a guy like that?

I get the "homegrown" aspect but I don't think any of it means he's fit to follow Saban IMO

I’m a State fan so I would take anyone. Anyone’s an improvement over Joe Morehead. We took Leach. Why wouldn’t we take anyone?

Mullen. Don’t know why MSU didn’t hock the farm to keep him.
Mullen wanted out, and I was glad to see him go. Every coach has a shelf life.

Yeah, nobody really knows at this point, but he's like the backup QB - the fans love him because he could be the next superstar in waiting, but then he could finally get his chance and throw three picks.

But nobody cares. You won’t go back once in the next 6 or 7 years........or ever.
Tennessee and USC will make it before you also.

No doubt about his pedigree.

Mullen or Stoops. Saban is too old.

Kirby Smart..
For the 5 downvoters, serious question, why not Kirby?? If Saban weren't in the SEC, he'd probably have 2 national championships. They're MUCH more dangerous than the Richt coached UGA squads...

I would take Saban 10 years ago. But not now.

Saban
Smart
Saban is proven and in the immortal words of O Brtother where art thou....Kirby is Bonified

A rumor got out that Kirby took a picture of the Alabama recruiting board and showedd it to some recruits to show them they were not the high priority that they were told they were by Alabama.
It was a rumor that was strated on some message board that has not and can not be proven, yet a ton of people have bought it hook, line and sinker.
Could it be true? Sure. it could. Could it be false? Absolutely. But people choose to believe it because Kirby left Alabama and they don't like it, so the choose to believe the worst.
Very similar to Cochran. Many on here believe Alabama pushed him out because Alabama blamed him for the rash of injuries that Alabama players suffered.
Truth? He wanted an on field coaching position and Saban didn't think he was ready for that and Georgia offered it.
ETA
Oh...and I was not one of the downvoters.

Well he's damn good with a defense, and that's a great start and more than most can say.
Kirby was just a DC before becoming Georgia's HC. Kirby has shown he can recruit at a high level, but when it comes to X's and O's, I'll take Pruitt.
Pruitt is rough around the edges I think is the main concern. Never met him, that's just what I've heard.

Maybe, maybe not. This year should give a clearer picture. I do recall after only having their senior season to play for him, Reuben Foster & Jonathan Allen saying that Pruitt was hands down the best football coach they had ever played for.

Maybe. but I think Kirby let the OC call his own plays. Both with Chaney and with Coley. I thought Chaney did a decent job, but Coley was bad. Kirby has made some mistakes, for sure.
I picked Pruitt too, but he would also make me nervous. he was pretty volatile at Georgia. Given a choice of the two it would be tough. I would keep Kirby probably.

He's done a good job at Tennessee, for sure. At least so far. He is building them back up the right way. Across the Line of Scrimmage.
