Are we a lock for that Time slot @ Bama or will LSU Florida get it?
Trying to plan something that day is the reason I ask.

Impossible to know at this point. If CBS sticks to their normal yearly routine of designating 1 week for a doubleheader with an 8pm slot it very well coudl be that one.

I think it's a 100% guarantee the game will either be at 3:30 or at 8, but we probably won't know for another little while.

ETA: I forgot about masters weekend. Bama/LSU is on Masters saturday so that is practically a virtual lock to be the CBS 8pm game, so that they can air masters all day and lead into that game at 8. So at this point I would speculate that our game with bama would be the #1 pick of the day at 3:30

My guess is we'll have the 3:30 slot while LSU/Florida is a 7 ESPN game.

Let me channel my inner Lee Corso and say, "Not so fast". Remember, this Masters is in November, when it gets dark much earlier than the traditional April dates. It'll be too dark for golf by 5:30 at the latest, so it wouldn't shock me if the CBS brass goes to ANGC and begs them to finish the 3rd round by 3:30 pm to lead in to a SEC doubleheader. I think it's likely that UA/LSU is at 8:00, but it is possible to be played at 3:30. Looking at the schedule, I'd say it'll be TAMU/UT at 3:30.

Also, you can damn well bank on the fact that the final round will be done by 4:30 to lead in to a national NFL broadcast on Sunday.

I see waht you're saying but the masters DGAF about football. They're not going to alter their schedule for college football, and CBS will do literally anything the masters asks them to.

Even though he is no longer the chairman, William Porter Payne still wields mucho influence there and he can persuade Fred Ridley to work with CBS on this.

Augusta National would tell CBS to kindly go frick themselves and that they'll be taking their business to ABC or NBC. CBS would quickly fall back in line.

The Masters is second only to the Super Bowl on CBS's hierarchy.

When the Angry Womens Movement force sponsors to drop the Masters, Augusta National told CBS to air the tournament with no commercials. They still limit commercial time during the tournament. CBS will do as they are told, like an obedient child.

Well, apparently I'm not as big an idiot as most everyone thought.

CBS announced today that their Masters coverage will end at 4:30 on Saturday November 14 to lead in to LSU/Bama at 6PM. Sunday's coverage will end at 2:30PM to lead in to NFL coverage at 4:05. That gives CBS the opportunity to cover a playoff (if needed) and the Butler Cabin green jacket ceremony.

I don't think people thought you were an idiot, it was just that the whole "cbs will go ask the masters nicely to adjust their schedule" was kind of idiotic. It's also worth noting that (I think..) this is the first time CBS has had a 6pm time slot. So that would have been hard to predict beforehand.

In other words the prevailing opinion was that CBS would air bama/lsu at night after the masters, which is correct. It's just not at 8pm like people would have guessed.

I believe you are correct. The Masters will be a great lead-in to SEC football.

One thing I don't advertise, either here or in my life in general, is that I know a great deal of the membership. I played golf (I was a walkon) at UGA and got to play ANGC through the team. I also grew up in Savannah, where more than a few members live. The ones I talk to told me they were going to be flexible with CBS this year because of the date changes. They well understood CBS' conundrum with their SEC and NFL contracts and were willing to accommodate the network within reason.
