Does Jamie Newman remind you of Glen Mason leaving?

It was an abrupt turnaround, but I think we turned out okay. In the end, we were better off with Coach Donnan.

It’s a blow to us however way you slice it. Hope Mathis is getting some serious reps. When I talked to Luke a few months ago he said everyone was really high on him.

Mason was at least legit, I watched him beat OSU twice in person with a Minnesota squad almost devoid of talent.

Truth is, Mason fricked himself at a has been and ruined his career.

I think Newman just did the same thing by not playing a down at UGA. He better have an amazing combine

What NFL squad would want someone who would do this to a team. He was borderline talent wise to begin with.

My guess is he ends up an undrafted free agent.

I disagree. Glen Mason had Kansas as a top 10 team and consistently had Minnesota teams with far inferior talent competing in the Big 10. Robert Edwards could have approached a 2000 yard season if Mason is the coach in 1997.

Mason could coach. He just had the worst agent in history. UGA vs Kansas vs Minnesota...

Things would have been different sooner with him.

Not a curse we just hired the wrong AD in 88 then again when we replaced him.

Any competent AD from 88 forward could have got us someone who could do what it takes to win a natty.

Georgia Way is the curse if there is one.

Still hate how the Harrick thing went down to this day.

You are correct. Atlanta is a blessing and curse for UGA football. Loads of talent, loads of support for schools not in Athens. And loads of shite that sports fans can be interested in....unlike the situation in Alabama for instance where the only game in town is either Auburn or Alabama and the number of people in the state not originally from the state is miniscule compared to Atlanta. Thats the Georgia Way in my eyes...win enough to be respectable, run what appears to be a clean program that is not an black eye for the University and that is more than enough. And who is to say that CFB shouldn't be more about these things and not simply winning at any cost. Almost all of the "Big 6" in the SEC have had many real skirmishes with violating rules in order to win...and three of those have benefitted greatly from being on serious probation. UGA is not among that group...just steadily winning enough games to be respectable and not embarass the university but also not risk tolerant enough to win much that is meaningful.

We have had as many or more major scandals as anyone.

They happen, you move forward.

The Georgia way is to still be punishing yourself a decade past the transgression. Hell our basketball team is still screwed up over it.

The goal of major sport is championships not participation trophies.
