Whoever said this is definitely sleeping behind the wheel. He is way off!

That's likely Orgeron. The quote matches his speaking style.

I’m not sure why that’s a negative comment. Maybe I’m misunderstanding it?

It's not negative. It's just a terrible assessment of our RB situation.

The running backs were young last year.
Fact check: Spiller was a Freshman. So was Smith. I rate this as TRUE.

They should be better this season.
Fact check: This is an opinion, which can only be verified after the fact. But I happen to agree with it. We'll see.

That's another case of a talented position that's well recruited.
Fact check: Another opinion. This one saying we have recruited well at RB. If any of Achane, Jackson, Hubbard or Crownover are good enough to force their way on to the field to get some touches, then that's great.

Now you have to show out.
Fact check: Well, that's the way it is in sports.

Basically, I think the coach is trying to say we have recruited well at RB, Spiller and Smith ought to improve, and it's time to show a better running game against good defenses.

I agree with that coach, whoever he is.

No one that follows A&M football would say this. This is like calling Rosie O'Donnell "sexy".

2018
4* Corbin (8th)

2019
4* Spiller (9th at position)

2020
4* Achane (4th)
3* Hubbard (39th)
3* Jackson (56th)

I would say that is recruiting well. Not elite. Not even great. But give me a 4* back a class and we’ll be just fine.

I wouldn't (also, one of those guys transferred). For what we are paying Jimbo and how we are recruiting overall, I'd say RB has been one of the most disappointing positions in recruiting. We can and should be recruiting way better.

I'd say it's average for the SEC. Not "well".

What about John Emory for LSU? 2019 5 star RB and #13 player regardless of position.

Missed/forgot him. That’s pretty significant.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard O say “show out.” Sounds more like Gus or Kirby.

This may or may not alleviate the anxiety of those worried about our running backs,
but Jimbo was asked about Achane yesterday.

Go to the 0:50 mark:
8/22 press conference

"Achane is playing running back
and doing the things he did in high school
he's playing running back
he's playing in the slot
we flex him out
do those kinds of things
and has looked very good
very smooth player
of course, very fast
we know that
but a natural football player
catches the ball very well
very good ball skills
and developing very well
we're looking forward to being able to utilize his talents"

Call it stream of consciousness coachspeak or a Denny Green-like statement that "he is who we thought he was". Take your pick.

Jimbo has also said that he has seen improvement from Spiller and Smith. I don't think he has mentioned any other RBs by name yet. Make of it what you wish.

I expect a lot of play time from smith and spiller but it’s nice to hear Achane is doing well. I’ve got high hopes for Jackson as well

I think Achane is a better version of Smith.

I think Achane and Smith will be 7-10 touch type guys (between catches and carries) and Spiller 15+. Plus some designed runs for Mond. Hopefully the added gamebreaking ability translates to more success in the running game this year

More than anything we need the OL to improve in the run game I think
