Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen where he identified that he was Christian. I'm not even remotely religious, but I don’t see how anyone could do anything but respect the man after reading that.

Well, he is a minister, so.....if that was his reason, then why not state it?

quote:

I'm pretty sure Christianity's tenets don't say anything about only kneeling for Christ, and if so it is meant in a metaphorical way and not in a literal way

Kneeling is a form of or at least a sign of worship, and capitulation to a higher power. The Bible does clearly say not to have any gods before God.

That is also why many Christians kneel when they pray. It is a show that they put God higher than themselves and worship Christ only.

If he did not criticize them for taking a knee (and he did not) then why would anybody take issue with him not kneeling? Isn't it his right not to kneel?

Absolutely. As a black man, can you imagine the criticism and comments that will be directed at him for not kneeling? I guess technically he never identified himself as a Christian, but it is inferred, I think.

But, really no one should get any criticism for not kneeling. As I understand it, part of the BLM movement is to get people to hear the voice of the black American, recognize their struggles and also recognize what is important to them. How can the same people not give others that same respect? That's the only part of this that I vehemently disagree with which is why I bring up Drew Brees so often. The understanding and respect needs to go both ways.

Oh, I agree 100%. But just look at what happens with conservative African-Americans. If they don't go along with the crowd they are ostracized. They face more peer pressure than a teenager.

It has gotten to the point that some are all for freedom of speech, but only as long as that speech agrees with the majority of people....or at least with the most vocal.

Making fun of the fat orange dumb arse != crying.
It’s actually humorous because it makes people like you so upset.

Besides, most of my political posts are in threads like these that consist of you and your redneck pals crying about things like student athletes displaying slogans.

A racist complaining about a man that has done more for my community than any other president in my life time is sickening to see.

You should be ashamed. Why do you hate white people?

Yes you are and have. You are perfectly fine with any speech you are against not being included. I have yet see you promote anything but that.

Tackled job issues that led to the lowest unemployment in our history as a people.

Our community was the fastest growing in wages too.

Justice Reform.

The list is long.

And what about the Black people that believe that same way?

But you do. I have seen you do it on this board with people that disagreed with the removal of flags and statues.

I have seen you 100% ignore historical facts just to hang on to your hate. Fact like Black people owning slaves in the USA.

So....yeah you have.

The NBA, don t give a shite about the lives of Chinese and other ethnics apart of what was their own developmental league.

Nor do they care about the 12 his that sew their overpriced shows for nothing.

NBA prefers China to us at this point. No defense for such hypocrisy other than money.

This is inaccurate. It’s a hot button political take along with inequality and inequity. However, the sentiment is categorically false.

Primary research does not indicate this to be the case. Every argument contrary is secondary, tangentially written pseudo-research with qualities either a) weakly correlated or b) not correlated. Learned this when I wrote my masters thesis on inequity in education prior to leaving the field altogether.

Maybe he subconsciously recognizes that marxism is wrong, and correctly sees the identity politics of the left is marxist, and so refuses to kneel.

Other than Trumpf-tards and the idiot MAGA Hat wearing crowd, no one seriously believes that BLM supports marxism in any way

Taking down Statues that never should've been erected in the first place isn't erasing History, just balancing the "racism ledger" in America

That whole marxism BS is to deflect from addressing some real issues that are simmering just beneath the surface of normal, everyday American Life

In all seriousness, and with no anger at all, I ask you to consider the possibility that you are mistaken here. Not only is the BLM organization explicitly neomarxist, but the whole social justice movement, influence by critical theory coming from the academy, is prone to marxism. As Marx taught that the proletariat (the oppressed) weren't at fault for any of their actions (because the oppressed are always materially determined in their actions), so the current left teaches that members of the oppressed classes (non-white, non-male, non-cisgendered) lack agency; they are materially determined in their actions. Anything bad they do is society's fault, not their own.

And as marx saw the world as divided between the oppressed class and the oppressor class, so does neomarxism. The difference is that original marxism was LESS pernicious, because the oppressors were those who owned means of production. In neomarxism, the oppressor is the white cisgender male, and this is true even if the white cisgender male lives in Appalachia or Pine Bluff. It's really terrible stuff.

BLM is a crock of crap.

The simple fact is that if they believe BLM, why do they kill so many of their own?

Is there accountability for all the extortion BLM has raked in from corporations?

White supremacy is a ridiculous notion, if whites were superior they wouldn't put up with all this crap.
