What does it mean? A rising ocean tide that’s red? Someone explain “Crimson Tide”.

Alabama was playing a football game on a rain-swept field. The two teams were churning up mud which in those parts was red clay. An Alabama sportswriter used the phrase "crimson tide" to describe the nature of the field and the nickname stuck.

It was that part of the month when a celebration would ensue and a Bammer could rest easy knowing he wouldn't be a deddy/uncle.
That's why the fans implore "Roll Tide!"

NCAA was established in 1906.
Alabama, Auburn and LSU played in the
Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Assn before the SEC.
In 1907 Gumps played ball in Birmingham on a flat improperly sloped poorly drained field at the “Fairgrounds” with a red clay base —
Too fkn Stupid or cheap to build a properly sloped football field with sand base, the red clay soup was noted by a Gump writer who noted the Crimson Tide when games saw any significant rain
Be proud of a long history of Gump stupidity Embrace your fkn idiocy. They now import white sand to build your base for football fields and require a slope %.
Later games would be played in Mobile on better fields — My Grandpa Pat Ryan told me of the notoriously shitty Gump FB field as he played on 1908 LSU National Championship team.
Even imbeciles know you put a CROWN on a FB field and proper slope to allow for drainage —
Draw your own conclusions!

While no particular cause of red tides has been found, many different factors can contribute to their presence. These factors can include water pollution, which originates from sources such as human sewage and agricultural runoff.
Sounds right.
