Just fvckin insane. I'm reading the McCullough book "Pioneers" right now about the first settlers of Ohio.
It just makes me feel like a giant, doughboy pvssy.
I just read Empire of the Summer Moon. It won a Pulitzer. It's about Texas in the 19th century and the fights with the Comanche Nation. Texas was a violent and dangerous place. It's unreal how dangerous the Old West used to be.

It’s amazing to me how any killers ever got caught For every murder, you have to think that 95% went unsolved or they arrested the wrong person. That time period is fascinating to me.

Except that is wrong.
June 19th is when the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas. A war measure put in place to free slaves only in confederate controlled states.
It was not until Dec 1865 when the 13th Amendment became officially a part of the Constitution that slavery in the country was abolished. Kentucky along with a few other states still had slavery and traded them up to December of 1865. So they were not the last group of slaves in the US.

That is accurate Kentucky, Maryland, and Delaware were allowed by President Lincoln to maintain their forced servitude during the war. The radical republicans were raising utter hell about it in congress but President Lincoln was determined to keep those three states in the Union. Good factual post Warrior.

Why quibble about which date accurately marks the freeing of the last remaining pocket(s) of slavery in the USA? Regardless, the purpose of "Juneteenth" is to celebrate the abolishment of slavery, which should be celebrated. I'm proud of UA for promoting Juneteenth.
I agree UA should correct it. It's easy to do:

Because truth should matter.

It should be celebrated. Jesus wasn’t born on 25-December either. Want to celebrate the end of slavery on 19-June, there is nothing wrong with that at all.
But a major university putting out a factually incorrect statement like that shouldn’t be deemed acceptable by anyone.
Your fix, however, is perfect.

I agree on the support for the holiday just would rather people know facts about of our history like what the Emancipation Proclamation really did. We can not run from our history just learn from it. We can only do that if the truth is told.
Again in regards to the holiday all about supporting it.
