“ Oklahoma State, a traditional have-not program”
“ a second-tier school that should have enabled Gundy to launch his career to a blue-blood job”
“ Instead, he stays on the only campus that enables, fosters and welcomes his behavior.”
Oklahoma State with Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith has always had a proud tradition. I have always cheered for them after Auburn. Pete Thamel can go frick himself.
Any Oky State fans on the Rant wish to comment further?

What about this is wrong? I don’t think anyone expected him to actually stay at Okie State and he’s done his best to try and get out over the years.

Thamel insisted on being the back of the Oklahoma centipede.

Eh, I think some of it has been overplayed and used as leverage. If he really wanted to go, he would be gone. Plus he went to school there, no way he is there without that connection as well.

He lost all credibility when he wrote that article in 2013 about an "OKstate cheating scandal" that turned out to be a complete sham

Yahoo is so thirsty for clicks. Other than the rant and Dicky V they’re the crusaders for trying to bring down PEAR.

It took until the 9th reply to call this out??

Typical East Coast media bias.
Gundy is a native Oklahoman. Played football at Oklahoma State. Became an assistant when he graduated and has never left. He has had numerous offers to leave but he likes Stillwater.
His record as a head coach is 129-64. He has had one losing season (his first as a head coach).
He makes $5 million a year. He will smack any reporter who comes after one of his players (Ask Jenni Carlson).
He is living the dream.

I can only speak from a close outside looking in, but sure:
quote:

Their overall record against Oklahoma, which is, I shite you not, something like 90-18-5 or something certainly doesn't help them refute this.
Every time anything has been on the line ever, they would shite the bed against the Sooners. It was like Red Sox against the Yankees for 80 years until 2004

He went there, and has taken them to heights they've never really seen before in his tenure, so he's basically, or at least should be, untouchable. So I can see why he has the comfort to say whatever he wants.
Truth be told, they'd be idiots to get rid of him, and he would probably be better off being king there than taking a leap of faith at a traditional powerhouse program with a job opening. From 1996-2009, Ok State was 1-13 against Texas. Since then, they're 7-3. That's in large part due to Gundy.
In short: I agree - Pete Thamel is full of shite

Thamel has been a hack for years. Never take anything he writes seriously.

Not really. If he wanted out that badly he would have already been gone. He would get into it with T-Boone but that was never enough to drive him away. The guy is a lifer and has been there as a player or coach for all but 5 seasons since he was their QB in the 80s.
