There is pretty clear evidence about 9 conference games. But you won't withdraw your assassment.

Fake fake fake as frick news. And no, im not withdrawing anything.

Listen, its no secret that the SEC has been considered the most competitive conference for some time now right? And its no secret that this fact has greatly benefited certain SEC teams when it comes to their ranking by the playoff committee, right??

And its also a fact that SEC teams are widely criticized for their 8 game conference schedule and for their “cupcake” slaughtered lamb games right???

So............try to listen closely here. What you are about to read is called “logic”:

So....If the SEC, simultaneously removes one of the “cupcake” games they are criticized for AND adds another SEC game from the most competitive conference, we have just added an even stronger case to be made within the playoff committee for getting two teams in the playoff.

Its all about building a resumay. And replacing a cupcake with a conference game STREGTHENS A RESUMAY!!

Other conferences that play 9 are still considered weaker than the SEC playing 8. So when you add a 9th, the gap widens and good things happen.

The end. There you go.

A freedom fighter like yourself should never give up local control (scheduling) to a federation of 13 other universities with their own interests at the forefront.

You see about half an inch in front of your face. I try to look a little further than that.

And when you do this, the only solution in sight that will prevent the final destruction of college football by the 8 team playoff......is to strengthen the schedules on the front end.

If you dont, we’ll have an expanded playoff the first year the 4-team contract is up. And itll be too late and you can kiss the excitement of the regular season goodbye, just like how the 4 team playoff killed new years day and bowl season.

This is the grim reality. The battle of our times!

That would be epic.Just make it the permanent CFA Kickoff Classic.

Atlanta would be nuts every Labor Day weekend.

Schedule from 1987 Notice anything? How in the world did CFB survive back then?

Did UGA ever make a return trip to Oregon State? That would have been a fun trip if so.

Would be much better than Alabama/Duke

As a Tech guy, I've been dying to have Auburn on the permanent schedule. 2003/2005 was great...partly because we beat that arse but it was a good rivalry that needs to come back.

Nah,they didn't do it back on those days.Schools like Oregon State also needed s payday in the 80's.

UGA was supposed to get a return trip from their UCLA game in '83 but I believe certain financial guarantees fell through.

So, UNC and Wake are both in the ACC. But....tonight's game is a "non-conference game"??

If I understand it correctly, after Notre Dame and ESPN and ACC network and all that new money in the ACC ruined the oldest rivalry in North Carolina, the two teams said "frick it", we'll just play anyway and call it "nonconference"

Wake up , people. It's time for action. It's time for the SEC and ACC to go to 9 or 10 conference games. Before the vampires ruin cfb permanently.

And no ranked teams play this weekend.Week 3 of the CFB pre season.

I can't remember all the AD's I heard who talked about all these glorious intersectional games that were going to be played when a 12th game was added to the schedule back in the 90's.

Now it's turned into yet another hot garbage weekend.

This is an excellent idea. If we're going to play these cupcakes, let's make sure the money goes to GA schools and GA kids. That's a no brainer.

As for a 9th conference game . . . um, no. That does not help the SEC school at all. It only brings the overall SEC record closer to .500, making the conference look worse overall.

Scenario: If Miss St is 6-5 instead of 7-4 does even a blowout really help UGA? No. Now say they're 8-3 and UGA ends up dropping the matchup and finishing 10-2 after an L in the SECCG. Does a 2 loss non-conference winner get in after a loss to MSU? Hell no. Damn what people complain about - it just doesn't help.

If you simply want another SEC matchup to go watch, fine. I for one don't really care. I'm taking fam to see the game this weekend and we're going to have a ball. I don't care about playing Ole Miss. I'd honestly be happy to see a game vs GA Southern especially if my money goes to making schools in this state better.

It seems like the movement is going towards removing one of the cupcake games. It seems like the SEC may have to add another conference game because it will be hard to get other power 5 conferences to agree to one off or home and away series. The cupcake games seem to be drawing less interest. The tickets for tomorrow's game are 10 dollars on Stubhub. There's a lot less money made by the local Athens economy and just no excitement at all about the cupcakes. Personally I enjoy having 2 of them. It's always good to see us showcase all the players.

Disagree. Trading a cupcake for what would be a home/away with another conference opponent takes away an entire home game every other year. The local economy makes more having the cupcake home game every year.
