“Some of the SEC facilities on the road, y’all should go around and do a story on, because there’s not very good locker rooms in the SEC on the road,” Smart said. “They’re mostly the old ’60s and ’70s locker rooms from stadium to stadium."
“It’d be a nice little story, some of the places that I’ve been to, and the dungeons you’ve been in. They’re not high-quality, and I’m not picking on other places because it’s not very good here. They’re not very nice. That’s just the way it is.”
Georgia senior defensive tackle Michael Barnett said the most recent example was at the start of this season, when the Bulldogs were severely cramped into the visiting locker room at Vanderbilt.
“I mean, how you’re sitting right there with this camera right here, and this camera right there, that’s how lockers are set up,” Barnett said.
“You can just imagine me (6-foo-4, 304 pounds) standing next to Jordan Davis (6-6, 330) and Tyler Clark (6-4, 300), and it’s like man, c’mon now, we need room, we’re big boys. And then there’s like a small little bench …. “
Smart mentioned some of the problems on other bus trips, too.
“There were a couple of times we got stuck in a road block and couldn’t get to the game on buses and thought we were going to have to get out and walk on I-85,” Smart said. “That frustrates you but there’s not a lot you can do. Some things you can control and some you can’t.”

That doesn’t surprise me at all. No AD is going to spend money on anything that benefits the competition. But, the road block issues is ridiculous IMO.

Simple rule, austere but all functioning. Sinks, ac, tp, and places to sit.

Auburn did it to GA Tech way back when. They put grease on the railroad tracks so the Tech players had to walk 5 miles back. Good ole fashion SEC football. But in today's age, you are right - its ridiculous.

Good grief...
I give it 2 years tops before there’s a serious petition to outlaw day games in September because it’s too hot

Good one JD. Now get busy with this week's HGMF picks. I'm looking forward to winning this week.

And GT did it to UGA in the 20's.GT refused to play in Athens back then so we always had to play in Atlanta.
UGA had an undefeated team in the mid 20's and GT watered the field down to negate the Dawgs running game.Tech ended up winning and was the catalyst for UGA to build Sanford Stadium.
Dr Sanford vowed he'd never play GT again in Atlanta 2 years in a row.

Was that also the same year where they basically spent the entire season prepping for UGA (maybe had 0-1 wins prior to the game with us)?

It was 1927 I believe.I think GT held back many of their starters
for a couple weeks before we played.
It was a huge upset and cost the Dawgs a legit NC

I actually wouldn't think it unreasonable to see all Sep. SEC games be 4pm or later kicks.

Because it feels so much cooler at 4 PM than noon in the summer

I remember when I played basketball in High School the opposing coach had turned the heat up in our locker room and we were sweating balls at half time. I remember our coach trying to find someone to turn it off and they "couldn't find the key to the lockbox protecting the thermostat'.
This shite happens. I just hope we are doing it too lol.

Hence the "Or later".
After the first week of November, the B1G doesn't play night games because of the cold. It's not much different.

I lived in Columbus, oh, for many years, they used to talk about how different the weather was but it's really not different until December when the season really kicks in. August is hot all over the US and it can be 100+ in Nebraska.
I left Columbus to go to Athens for a tech game and the weather in Athens was low forties and rain. We actually had worse weather than Columbus that weekend.
December through April is why Midwestern weather sucks.... But honestly, living in Nashville now, if it is in the 20's up there it's in the 30's here, we get ice, they get snow. You are wearing a jacket either way.

Seems the SEC games still have state police escorts, why are the busses getting stopped?

Makes sense, VU spends money on academics, not sports. As close as the basketball and baseball facilities are, surprised they don't let them use both baseball locker rooms for visitors.
