I guess it's a wash. The last expansion was budgeted for $80 million and ended up being $65 million.

I'm no six-figure making businessman like some posters but I imagine it's better to do construction/lock down costs during a slow economy than a boom, right? Maybe us stalling on a new arena/renovation whatever will be a blessing in disguise.
As for the Nike contract, yeah, either they pay us our money or we moving to another brand.
I hope one day some kind of $$$ endowment is put in place for basketball.

The idea that you can "force" millionaire boosters to pay for things they aren't interested in and basically hold them hostage is pretty comical.
People donate big money to support what they love. Isn't that one of the reasons why we have the rowing facility that we have?
The suggested BDS improvements aren't going to help us sign one more recruit or win one more football game. Wealthy boosters know this. They may be happy to donate for them, but don't expect them to kick in a few more million for basketball if they don't love that sport also.

Nick Saban is the only one who can get Coleman Coliseum the renovation it need. If he threatens the boosters guarantee they pony up the cash

I wonder if Duke fans would trade their dominant basketball program for a slightly more competitive football program? Seriously doubt it.
You cant be king of every sport. I for one am beyond thrilled Bama is king of football, and the administration understands where our bread gets buttered.

You are obviously not familiar with the term FOG (Football Only Gump). Alabama not only invented the species but has perfected the breed. How dare you suggest a dime be spent anywhere other than the football program.
It’s truly ridiculous that they want to spend that much on BDS to add another layer of gold leaf while other facilities are embarrassingly substandard. Everybody knows football is king and pays all the bills, but spending money on it just to spend the money is really laughable. We have other sports that are at a disadvantage because of the facilities yet the football program makes federal spending look frugal.
