No Ranting - Just legit concerns

1. The obvious...investing time in the second or third most talented QB (obviously) because of personal links is not why you're being paid a dumptruck full of money for every game you coach.
2. Ditto the above for staying with an OC that is maybe not even the best HS level OC in Arkansas.
3. Did anyone else notice Devwah Whaley acting like a total jackass after the fumbled exhange? Go back and watch....clearly there are issues in this locker room and I'm not sure Starkel and his "Beebs" shirt are all that poplar. I'm guessing here.
4. Ditto the above with Hicks sulking on the bench after being pulled. Even his mom can see that Starkel is more talented....even with his "Beebs" shirt on. (sheesh)
5. Our best QB is a Justin Beiber fan. This could cause me to finally cut ties and root for Florida State or something.
6. We're not doing the little things well that ARE within our control. Execution is sloppy an we look disorganized.
7. We have the 3rd or 4th best O-Line in the state of Arkansas.
P.S. If you too are a Justin Beiber fan, do yourself a favor and keep that secret.

In fairness, there was logical ground in thinking Ben Hicks would be the best choice before the season started. The personal link wasn't just a golfing buddy, Hicks SHOULD be our best choice. But he isn't, and we knew that before this (pivotal) game.
I was actually looking forward to this game. Despite both teams being arse, Ole Miss should be slightly ahead of us in their rebuild, and it's still an SEC road game. I wouldn't have faulted a close loss. 14 points isn't a lot, but we scored a last minute TD when it didn't matter anymore to make it look somewhat respectable to people glancing at the box scores. We essentially lost that game 10-31.
We need to win a conference game this year. Period. It could have maybe been Ole Miss if we had the right QB starting. Either way, OM was likely out best shot. We need to beat our three G5 and one FCS OoC slate and pick up a conference win. That's 5-7 in year two and still no bowl. I mean, can we honestly get any more liberal than that with our rock bottom expectations? As a fan, I can't accept 4-8 or worse, given how easy our schedule has been the last two years. He's seriously never going to have it this easy ever again, so the lack of ability to capitalize and fluff his stats with a bunch of shite teams is alarming.
If we end this year with a conference win and having put away the OoCs, then I'm not against Morris getting a third year. He took over about as bad a situation we've ever had, so he deserves three years just out of decency and respect for that fact. But we weren't so bad off that he can't get one conference win out of his first 16 tries, and six OoC wins out of six G5 and two FCS schools. That's just a bad head coach if he can't do that.

Well, I don't either, but this game is wishy washy. North Texas beat us, what, 44-17 or something last year? I wouldn't have thought it possible to put up 33 or whatever against Alabama, or come as close as we did to A&M, Ole Miss, or CVndy after the CSU and NT debacles. We're definitely the worst team in the West, possibly even the whole conference. But a lot of our opponents coming up look at least very mortal, and we all know it's not terribly uncommon for the better team to lose sometimes. It's still possible to get an SEC win. Do that and take care of the creampuff teams. That's as equitable of an exchange as I can make as a fan, and that's honestly more patience than he'd get anywhere but Vanderbilt and Kentucky. If he can't win five on those conditions, every coach on staff and the AD need to be replaced if he keeps his job.
I'm sorry, but we absolutely cannot allow a standard lower than that to be our norm. We shouldn't have fired Bert if our fantasy of being a competitive football team is going to end like that.

Regarding the Bieber shirt, you know you’re old when you initially thought it might be a still frame pic from the Take On Me video from the 80’s. It’s not like I don’t know who the Beibs is but I still thought the other.

This.... He could be the love child of Maralyn Manson and Amy Grant for all I care. Talking bout one messed up upbringing.
Dude was pretty dang good being thrown into that mix with his arm. If play calling were just a bit better and he got the start this would be a totally different conversation.
