This is from a Georgia board, but I thought it was pretty cool:

quote:

For years, it has seemed to me that when Bama and Auburn play, either Bama blows them out or Auburn wins a squeaker. That’s way over-simplified (Bama has won some close ones over the years), and perceptions ain’t always right. A number of times I have had a concept of something, then I do some research, and I’m 100% wrong. So I did a little digging…

In 1969, with Pat Sullivan at the helm, Auburn beat Bama 49-26. Here’s how many times Auburn has beaten Bama by 14 or more points since:

Zero.

During that same time frame, Bama has beaten Auburn by 14 points or more 17 times.

Going back to when they restarted the series in ’48, Auburn has won by 14 or more points 5 times, the aforementioned ’69 game plus the 4 years from ’54 to ’57, during Bama’s pre-Bear down years and Auburn’s double probation and near-NCAA expulsion heyday. Since ’48, Bama has won by 14 or more points 25 times.

Or looking at it another way, since the arrival of the Bear, Auburn has done it once, Bama 21 times.

Another poster added this stat to the thread:

quote:

Interesting look there but how about this one - since 1982 when Dye 'broke the Bama streak' Auburn is actually 19 to 18 over Bama.

And the response:

quote:

True that. And during that time, Bama has won by 14 points or more 9 times. Auburn, zilch.

Very interesting stat regarding the series.
At Alabama Saban is 8-4 vs AU.
Other than his 1st year in 07 with the Shulites the 3 other losses were in 2010,13, & 17.
In all 3 of those games if AU won they represented the west in Atlanta. The 8 wins by Bama, AU had no shot at the west division so here's hoping their out of it again come November 30.

I’d just like to beat a good Auburn team on the road. It seems they’re either having a voodoo season or a dumpster fire.

I'm 25. I've never seen Alabama beat a good Auburn team, period.

While true, that 2005 game felt like they beat us by 20. Had we taken Brodie out when it was obvious he was a sitting duck, I think JPW would've made that game a little closer. When he was in they respected his "ability' to run. We still weren't winning that game though.
