Part of why I said that has to do with my mood right after that game, so I'll take that back to an extent.

Being a young guy and seeing the Vols do badly for so much of my life has taken a toll on my optimism. I'm sorry to be so negative, but deep down, I still believe our athletics aren't what they should be if you consider the amount of money our department has. To increase my faith in our AD, I will have to see a better product in Neyland first. I'm sorry, but there is zero excuse to be losing to Vanderbilt and getting blown out by Missouri. I really hope Pruitt has those boys ready in the fall; maybe we just needed to purge the Lyle scrubs first.

On the other side of the coin, Tennessee basketball has been great this century. It's disappointing when we have been robbed of advancing in the NCAAT twice in the past five years, but this program has some flippin' resolve. We have been through quite a bit with the falling out of Pearl and Tyndall, but we always come back swinging. I think we are a definite top 5 basketball program in the SEC going forward.

Lol don’t EVER apologize for being negative, most sports have sucked for VOLS for a long time which we all know. It was cool watching football at its peak and I do hate that you young fans didn’t get to experience that.

Agree with you that the AD is not where is should be as far as rankings, but I feel for the first time in forever that steps are being taken to address that and Fulmer isn’t just a solicitor for donations. I wish Fulmer would only have piss troughs in Neyland and say frick all the donations.

Personally I think the football team will suck again this year but I’ve accepted that UT will probably not return to former glory which sucks but I’m not sure our football donors are committed to winning big again.

Edit: the jumbled mess of words above probably don’t make sense but oh well.

I think we're on an upward trend with the AD in general. If we give Pruitt time I think he can build it into something sustainable. If that means 8-4 and 9-3 seasons is the new normal... I'm fine with that.

At his age, with his connections to Tennessee, and the mess that UCLA is currently in all make me think it’s pretty unlikely he bails out but never say never, I hope it isn’t the case

If he leaves it would be so Tennessee it hurts. Word has leaked to local media that apparently he doesn’t feel appreciated, whatever the hell that means?

Well, we just gave him an extension and raise this past year so.... I hope he stays but I don't want to get into a bidding war over him.

It's sounding positive for the good guys regarding Jalen Cone's recruitment -- From Rob Lewis earlier:

quote:

Heard Rick Barnes’ and Des Oliver’s visit with Jalen Cone went very well today.

He has set up an official visit for Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-12. Sounds like he’s very open to the idea of reclassifying at the moment

247 did their final rankings today, he got a very nice bump. 4* .9396 composite.

We could possibly get another commit from 4* Jalen Cone today.

Hubbs dropping some sticky NUGS on VQ:

quote:

As of now we’re expecting Oregon transfer Victor Bailey to make an official visit to campus during the second week in June. A 6-foot-4 guard, Bailey will have to sit out one year and will have two years of eligibility remaining. He averaged 7.4 ppg as a sophomore and made 39.8% from three-point range.

Talk about some athletic genes; his mother Tonja Buford-Bailey was an Olympic medalist in the 400-meters. His father Victor Bailey was an NFL wide receiver.

At this point it feels like Tennessee is a very likely landing spot for Bailey but we’re going to stop short of calling this one a done deal at the moment.

quote:

As for the current team Plavsic and Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua have joined the team on campus and both players have created a buzz in workouts.

We’ll start with Plavsic who frankly has blown people away with his skillset. Someone told us this week that as a redshirt freshman he’s already more offensively skilled than Kyle Alexander was as a senior. We’re also told that he became the Vols’ best big man the moment he stepped in the gym for the first time. Admittedly, that’s not exactly saying a great deal with what Tennessee is bringing back in the post but it’s good news for the Vols who have a gaping void in the middle.

That very last part on Plavsic is noted. Big shot in the arm if he can give us 8-10 pts a game to go along with rebounding and shot blocking. Apparently he's put on 30 lbs of good weight while redshirting at ASU and is up to about 240-245lb now. It'll be interesting to see how Plavsic, Fulk & Burns run the front court this season.

4* Oregon transfer Victor Bailey is officially heading to the good guys. Has to sit out a year, but has 2 to play after that. That gives him a year to learn the system and the staff and then take over for Turner(If he ends up running point) after he graduates.

247 composite had him as the #86 player in the country coming out of HS. #19 PG
