Just had a buddy text me and say Sorrells has to sit out this year. Anyone heard anything? Totally out of the blue, but he heard it from someone who is close to the team.

Not surprised..he was always a guy who would have to possibly take an academic redshirt....meaning he can practice but cannot play.

Edit: to add to this i have not heard such a claim yet.

I hope not, but if so, hopefully he will get things straightened out for 2020, as IMO he's a very talented DL.

But if he has to red-shirt this season, I also don't think that's too bad, with all the depth we have along the DL - just for DT, we'll have Kinlaw, Smith, Pickens, Sandidge, Ellis, Davis, and Thomas and Anderson could also play snaps inside.

So while it'd be great to have Sorrells this season as well, him having to red-shirt wouldn't be the worse thing.....

This was talked about during his recruitment but this honestly doesn't hurt us as a redshirt year wouldn't hurt him. It's more important that he is on our team even if he has to redshirt.

I've heard from the very beginning he had to sit a year if he committed, so this just tells me that nothing had changed. I was hoping spring/summer could have fixed his grades issue (thats what I assumed it was atleast). Havent been including him in any of my 2 Deep rosters.

Still will be great to have when our 2020 dudes come in. We are gonna be DEEP at DLine.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to see him in the fold this fall.
