Kayaking? The easiest access point to get in and out is the Grants Mill to Old Overton run. You'll forget you're in a major metro. Bring a small rod and use some watermelon seed small worms fishing off some of the rocks - you'll catch some nice spots.

For something extra, go to Good People Brewing, eat off one of the food trucks that will be around, and then catch a Barons game across the street. If you haven't been in a while, Regions Field is great minor league venue with downtown hovering over left field.

And Nikkis West is still around. Still the same as it was . . . and still awesome.

It’s a different Nikki’s that closed. A friend shared it on Facebook and I just assumed it was Nikki’s west.

I'll mention Johnny's in Homewood as a really good food spot. Its a meat and three, but with a little bit of a modern flare to it. Really good.

That was the downtown location that closed. The Bham News had a huge front page story in the Sunday paper about N West. They serve about 1,500 customers a day. "The Mother Ship of all meat and 3s"

Speaking of Leeds, I think the best BBQ in the metro Bham area is in Leeds - Rusty's BBQ. If Leeds can be considered meto Bham.

What else would it be? It's closer to Birmingham than Pelham.

It’s a sad place to tour. Outside of Huntsville and the beach - nothing to see.
