Is it just me, or do the students not pack out right field nearly as much this year?

Every game I’ve watched on TV it seems to look like half of what you would typically see compared to the past decade or so. Did they change some alcohol rules or something?

Most of the students were at Malco watching Endgame. Seriously.

In all fairness to our fans, we just aren’t very exciting to watch right now.

I agree, been to multiple games, multiple weekends. They don't show up as well, nor are they anywhere near as rowdy as we used to be.

I've honestly thought it was me looking at them in a "back in my day" mindset. Glad someone else has noticed it too.

It’s also the end of the semester and there’s an academic crunch this time of year

Edit: I’ve been to most of the home games spending time in either side of the outfield depending on who’s in town, etc. and the student section hasn’t been lacking imo. The last finger I’d point is at student support

I wasn’t able to watch last night but I haven’t exactly seen the stands being anywhere close to packed all year.

There just isn’t the excitement around baseball anymore it seems like. I think the choke job last year just made a lot of people lose interest. Especially after the season our basketball team had.

I think that’s the biggest sign for making a change. We need to win again tonight and hopefully people pack it out for Saturday.

Also to be fair...

Marvel just culminated the last roughly 20 years giving us phenomenal story-telling and character building.

Our baseball team has spent the last roughly 20 years just completely shitting all over our hearts and expectations.

I don't live close enough to Oxford to make any games to speak of, but what I notice most are all the empty chairs down the lines. Those wouldn't necessarily be students I don't think, so no, I don't blame the students.

I don’t “blame” the students. It’s still probably the best student section in baseball. It just seems like it’s gotten a lot weaker than in years past and I’ve been watching intently for over 10 years. Was more looking for whether some change has been implemented that has damaged attendance.

Can you still drink out of red solo cups? Are people still bringing pounds of crawfish and setting up on the trash barrels? Back when I was there between 2006-2011 baseball games were rowdy as hell. If the weather was good it was definitely the place to be. Good lord and the sorostitutes attire was always worth coming out for if nothing else.

Baseball games are actually some of my fondest memories while down there. I live in VA now and when I show people the home run beer shower video they can’t believe that shite and are jealous as hell; one of the most unique college experiences you can have anywhere.

If kids aren’t going to games during nice weather weekends in the spring, what the hell are they doing?

I went into right field for the UF series for the Friday night game and it was just as packed as I remember from a few years ago. Golfed on Saturday that weekend and didn’t go to the games but the attendance for those looked weaker on tv because of rain and I think a spring party.

On tv it generally looks weaker this year but I think the seats in the stadium itself look just as sparse. This year has been disappointing so I don’t blame people for going less, I’d probably be skipping more games than normal if I still lived in Oxford.
