Stevens will be a graduate transfer if he does move on, which would make him eligible at a new school immediately. Stevens was limited this spring but took the reps that he could while redshirt sophomore Sean Clifford, who is Stevens’ top competitor for the starting job vacated by Trace McSorley, took the lion’s share of the reps. An Indiana native, Stevens has done plenty during his career to date but little of it has directly related to becoming a Big Ten starting quarterback. During his time in blue and white, he did complete 24 of 41 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns but was a bigger threat as a runner, compiling 506 yards and eight rushing scores in his 76 carries for Penn State. He also caught 14 passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns, and endlessly was willing to play whatever role he could to bide his time as Trace McSorley led the team under center
