People are more upset about the double dribble
The whole game the refs let it be a street brawl for both teams. So for a verticality touch foul call on a buzzer beater to decide the game is hard. Put it this way, in this game that call isn't made 5 or 15 minutes into the game for either team even though it is technically right
Refs have a hard job making the right calls, I just wish it was consistent

Basketball games are called different in the final minute or two regardless of the crew or the teams involved. Especially in big games. It has always been this way and I will never really understand why it is never addressed. It's like they suddenly become aware of the gravity of the situation and either take a "let the teams decide it" approach and let literally everything go or a "I have to make sure I call it by the book" approach and send discretion flying out the window.

That's what makes this call so weird.
Auburn averages some 20 fouls per game yet only had some 9 team fouls before the final sequence. Same for UVA. The refs had swallowed their whistles the entire game on calls for both UVA and AU
So for a touch foul, especially one that didn't alter the shot, to be called at the buzzer is uncharacteristic
My problem with the foul is more that I refuse to believe they call that for AU or UVA early game.

That's what I'm saying. If they call the game tight for 38 minutes they'll swallow the whistles at the end. If they let them play for 38 minutes they'll suddenly find their whistles and call incidental touch fouls with 30 seconds on the clock in a tie game. I think a lot of it is just a subconscious desire to avoid having a direct influence on the game's outcome, which manifests itself in some crews not wanting to make any calls in crunch time and other crews not wanting to miss anything at all no matter how minor.

A few days too late. We are getting 6-10 inches today in Minneapolis.
