Not that going with the wife is a bad thing, but she can get tired pretty easily. Taking a few of my buddies to Starkville for the weekend series (Their first time in Starkville), we're staying at my sister-in-law's condo right by St. Joseph's. We'll be in town Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Really looking for a few recommendations on where to eat, and where to have a few drinks Friday and Saturday night. My favorites have always included the usuals, Oby's, Petty's, Dave's etc, but I was wondering if there were any new good places to try.

As a sidenote, we have GA tickets for both games. How hard is it to get a berm spot, and what is the rule on bringing in coolers/beer?

Any recommendations/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cowbells is terrible. I’d go downtown. Lots of nice drinking spots down there now.

Bin 612 is a good place to grab lunch. It’s also a pretty fun bar after 10pm. Commodore Bobs, veranda, restaurant Tyler would be my recommendations for dinner. (Recommend salmon at commodore bobs, veranda chicken at the veranda, steak or the fried chicken Restsurant Tyler.)

If you’re feeling a burger with a cool atmosphere, try bulldog burger. It’s in the cotton district and right in the middle of everything. Good burgers/beer selection too.

Bars wise—anywhere you go there’s going to be a younger crowd, especially Hobies and Moes. Cowbells sucks so don’t go there. Klassroom and drifters are cool but tiny so that part may not be enjoyable. Fountain Bar is cool and has a decent sized outdoor area. Commodore Bobs also has a nice smaller bar, and their head bartender was the team bartender for the saints a few years ago so they can make a drink.

Pretty much just stay in the downtown area & cotton district and you’ll have plenty of good places to eat/drink/hangout.

And as for coolers, I’ve only sat out in the outfield so I don’t know if the same rules apply in the berms area. Yesterday I got turned down because my cooler wasn’t 10x10 inches, but I just walked to the gate directly behind center field and that lady normally doesn’t give a shite unless it’s just outrageously large.

I’d recommend getting there 30-45 mins before first pitch to get a good spot on the berms.
