TCU infielder Coby Boulware is transferring to Arkansas. Will have to sit out 2019 though. Hit .278 as a freshman for the Frogs...no homers but 23 stolen bases.

Gotta love that kind of speed. Thats something you just can't coach.

From Jheremy Brown:

Here’s another big commitment for #Arkansas with 2021 RHP Vincent Trapani out of Wisconsin. Strong build, impressive this summer with FB up to 91 mph, spins a hard CB with late bite. High upside. #65 per @PerfectGameUSA #WPS

A couple of other sites have him as getting as high up to 94 MPH with his fastball already at 16 y/o. He will only throw it harder the older he gets as his body continues to develop.

Can we just get him here without Tommy John and his damn surgery getting involved please?

On Fenruary 18th, the Hogs picked up a commitment from RHP Brady Tygart out of Hernando, MS (Memphis metro). He hit 87 with his fastball this past summer so you have to imagine more is probably in there. It'll be interesting to see more about it, but what is available right now is currently limited. He is a 2021 commit.

Also, the Hogs take over perfect game #1 recruiting class for 2020.

Going back to this...We all know the Hogs have the outstanding 2020 class. Here is just a small example of that. They have 3 of the top 10 high school players for that class.

Perfect Game's Top 10 2020 High School Players

Cayden Wallace out of Greenbrier, AR is the 5th ranked player in the class. He is a 3B with a big time arm and excellent speed (sub 6.7 in the 60), but he is one of the top hitters ever produced by the state of Arkansas. He has been an elite hitter for a long time. He also hits 91 from the mound.

Nate Wohlgemuth out of Owasso, OK is the 9th ranked player in the class. Not your ideal build for a pitcher ala Isaiah Campbell as he is only 5-11, but he has hit 95/96 with consistency over the last year. He also has a nasty breaking ball. Also plays OF very well, but probably a pitcher only.

Masyn Winn out of Kingwood, TX is the 10th ranked player in the class. He could be a true two way player as an INF or as a pitcher. Big time arm as he has hit 98 on a throw across the infield or mid 90s from the mound. Also a very good hitter.

We also have Braylon Bishop who is the 4th ranked player in the 2021 class. He has garnered Ken Griffey, Jr comparisons as of late. He is an OF for Arkansas High School in Texarkana and, like Cayden Wallace, one of the best hitters ever seen as a high schooler in Arkansas.

Outside of the three 2020s I mentioned, there are many more who could big time contributors in college. Dayton Moore's son Robert Moore is one of the most elite defensive prospects out of the KC area as a SS and also has a big time bat. Ethan Long out of Arizona is a power hitting corner INF who also hits 94 from the mound. Nick Griffin out of Monticello is a LHP who throws 91-92, but could also play OF in college. Michael Brooks is one of the top infielders in the state of Florida. Tink Hence is a RHP from Pine Bluff who throws 93 while Clayton Gray is a big time OF prospect in Cabot.

Exciting times ahead in baseball.

Just being honest it will be really really hard to get those top 3 guys to campus i would assume.

Most likely. However, there does seem to be a growing trend in some of these higher ranked guys making it to campus. It's hard to turn down the money, but the path to the big leagues is so much faster for those guys getting drafted out of college.

Personally I'd much rather spend 3 years in college, where the facilities and amenities are on-par or better than AA or AAA. An elite talent that gets drafted out of HS is probably still spending 3 years in the minors. The top guys coming out of college spend 1 or 1.5 years in the minors.

Bregman- 2015 Draft: Played 50+ games with HOU in 2016
Benintendi- 2015 Draft: Played 50+ games with BOS in 2016

That being said 1st round money would be hard to turn down.

It's also a huge help that some of them are in-state kids. Better shot at getting them than most.

The Hogs have picked up a commitment from Fresno City College Sophomore OF Chet Allison. He is a 6-2, 200 OF from the Fresno area. Tripled slashed .297/.402/.407 in 2018 as a freshman with 13 XBHs (9 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 2 HRs), but has upped that production to .435/.532/.826 with 30 XBHs currently (15 2Bs, 6 3Bs, 9 HRs). He has also upped his SBs from 13-17 as a freshmen to 16-20 so far this year. He had 172 ABs in 2018, but has 138 ABs so far this year. Looks to be an excellent pick up and could be an impact player in 2020.
