Yes. Moving the game to Little Rock is ridiculous though.

Most of us aren't thrilled with it either. Thankfully the game will happen at the end of the season so players will have time to get over the injuries the Little Rock field will inflict on them.

SEC needs to go to 9 conference games. Would make a permanent cross division matchup more tolerable for teams that aren't Bama-UT, Auburn-UGA, Missouri-Arkansas and Ole Miss-Vandy. The other 3 aren't really rivals. Missouri should be in the West anyway.

LSU vs UF has been the toughest cross division matchup hands down. Although I say it sucks, it has produced some epic games/results. Deep down I wouldn’t have it any other way. Normally a nail biter and the better team doesn’t necessarily always win the battle.

Yes and no. There used to be 2 permanents until the 03 season and we'd play Auburn as well.

There is no way for it to be optional for some & keep the rotation #'s fair for all.

It's not fair for all as it is now. Bama basically dictates to everyone else, just so they can keep their precious "rivalry" game with Tennessee.

I'm curious if LSU and Florida mutually agreed to be permanent cross-divisional opponents, or were they forced by the SEC head office?

The SEC tried to match up teams with similar historical resumes, and then also tried to preserve as many rivalry games as possible.

I remember that game well. Should've been a horse collar.

That game pissed everyone off. We had already sewn-up the East ... SPURrier didn't have our boys ready. He caught hell for that game.

Petrino had y'all rollin' at the time.

I kinda of feel bad for that guy. That is some genuine disappointment and disgust. Lol

From what I've ever heard/read, they've never objected the idea & majority enjoy it.

said it before, say it again - B'ham missed a big opportunity in 2012 to promote Bear Bryant even more with an annual trophy game between Kentucky & Texas AM paired as cross-division teams. that 'miss' doubled-down on the stupid choices in 2003 to end the UK/ARK yearly cross-series and USC/MSU yearly cross-series - instead mismatching the 4 schools.

ARK/UK had all out wars on the hardwood in the 90s along with some very good/wild football games. they were much more alike as fan bases. same with MSU/USC fans who've long put a premium on baseball along with being football obsessed. also, MSU/UK had played just 15 SEC football games between 1933-91. there wasn't decades of history on the gridiron that was at stake.

Arkansas/Missouri (2012) is the only choice the league office got right in its pairings since 2003.

eta - killing Auburn/Florida yearly also hurt football in the SEC.

Agreed; I like the rivalry and there have been some great games... always a slobberknocker.

I love playing LSU every year.

If Auburn and Missouri swapped divisions, our schedule would be perfect.

Seeing as how we own Ole Miss, I'm pretty happy about it.

Tennessee vs Alabama is the only reason cross division matchups exist.

Yes. I hate Tenners. But it is good for the SEC to have the 2 best historial teams with set yearly matchups aginst each other.
