Figured it deserves its own thread.
With Turner heading to the NFL, this may be the most important coaching hire Jimbo has to make at A&M (beyond whenever he has to eventually replace Elko). And there are a bunch of high ranked OL recruits in the 2020/2021 classes that have expressed interest in A&M. Critical to find a guy that can utilize the talent on campus and also connect with the next batch of recruits.
Jimbo's OL at FSU eventually cratered due to poor coaching/recruiting. Can't make the same mistake twice.

He has a good resume of recruiting and producing good OL. Plus he worked with Jimbo at LSU for 2 years under Les Miles.
Makes a lot of sense.

He has a good resume. I’m interested to know what went down between him and Gundy at Okie State. I’m guessing he wasn’t happy about being passed over for the OC job when Gundy brought in the Princeton guy.
Wondering if he is eyeing our OC job when and if Dicky retires.

Or maybe he wants a $150K raise? That would do the trick for me.
I had never heard of Henson before today. Hope he can recruit. 2021 OL class has the potential to be legendary.
If on day one he flips our tackles, I'll feel a lot better. Never understood playing a LT at RT, and a guard at LT.

I like that Jimbo wanted this guy and got him. No "if"'s or "but"'s. He just hired him.
Had he been put in this position at FSU, I highly doubt they would have opened their wallets for Jimbo.

Yep. Let’s not forget, that’s one of the main reasons we were even able to land him. He wanted more money for the program in terms of assistants, facilities, etc. and they wouldn’t give it to him and we would.
That’s why I’m not worried when people bring up his past of eventually not having a lot of good coaches under him at FSU, he didn’t have the resources that he now does.
As to this coach I haven’t much about him in the past, but a cursory look and bit of research shows he’s coached some good lines in the past and a good recruiter and most think is a solid hire so I’m excited to see what he can do for us.
