The NCAA took the teeth out of the probation and made it just a one year bowl ban and recruiting restrictions for a year or two

They only use the top 20 signees of each class to formulate their team rankings. I think their overall player evaluations are fine. Their team ranking formula is broken, as evidenced by that.
No it isn't broken at all. They just don't penalize teams signing kickers and long snappers. Also, it levels the playing field by not giving extra points to teams signing over 25. It is exactly how it should be.

General ranking ranges? Top 10 is a good enough? Why then does Bama have #1 class like 7/9 yrs and 5 Nattys?

The #1 class every year looks a lot different than the #10 and even the #5 class.

So we have the same number of 5-stars, six more 4-stars, two less 3-stars and a higher rating per recruit yet Georgia is ranked higher?

As stated, only use the top 20. Also, all four stars are not equal. They give a point value based on their national ranking and 4 stars can be evaluated anywhere from 5.8 to 6.0. All 5 stars are 6.1.

We had more 6.0 guys than you did. That's where we edged you out. If you are wondering, 247 does there stuff the same way. Obviously, they valued your guys a little more than ours.

. I think UT is still a year or two away but the influx of talent is noticeable.

The East is rising

Technically, they are on the same talent footing if you are comparing classes.

Tennessee had a great 2015 class. 4th best class in the country with 7 elite recruits.
2019 was the 7th best class in the conference (12th in the country) with 5 elite recruits and 2 former elite recruits transfer.

It isn't as transformative as Tennessee may hope. Just a continuation of hope which has been letting them down for a decade.

3 years from now,SI will Rerank this class based on actual performance in College, Bama or Clemson will be #1 and we'll still see that Kirby and staff choke the big game away.

The composite is the best overall look at rankings because by averaging all 3, you get each service bias evened out.

As far as over ranking players, no one does it like Rivals. That was proven recently when a non existent player with several SEC offers got rated a 3 star on offers alone, with no film to judge Only interested in their Camp Attendees.

247 has weeded out most of those old Scout guys,so that 1/2 star sec/1 star Bama bump is gone, makes you think they're over ranking players, when they're actually removing previous bias'.

ESPN, well , they're gonna continue to move uncommitted players up to get you to tune into Recruiting Nation every Thursday.
