Mechanic help

I know it is not a sporty topic, but my son is a student at A&M and went out to his 2008 f150, and there was a puddle of water under it. It would not start and made abnormal sounds when he tried to crank it.
It has not been driven since last weekend.
Any recommendations for a mechanic. Apologies if the off topic offends.

What color is the puddle of water? Because the symptoms sound weird. Only thing I can think of that fits the description is a leaky radiator/water hose. Maybe the truck ran hot while it was leaking water and they engine seized (which means it need a new engine).
Or it could be just rain water that didn't evaporate and a bad battery that died during the last cold snap or a fault starter.

Thank you for the reply. I live in the Dallas area so I have not seen it myself. I did not get the location when I spoke to him. Can the water pump let go volume to cause a puddle??

Always had great experience with Duke Automotive. He can get backed up though,

In my years in College Station, I was lucky to have never required the services of a mechanic. My truck was 10 years old as well, but it was dependable (manual transmission ftw).
I did change the front disk brakes and an alternator once at the Reveille parking lot
. It's not allowed, but the maintenance guys never said a thing both times.

Most likely the water pump failed last time he drove it
It’s not uncommon for it to stay partially sealed until the engine is turned off and then dump after being stopped.
I’d have it towed to the dealer, Varsity? Then tell them to call you with an estimate before preforming and work
10 years ago I’d driven over there and taken care of it for you....but I’m getting too old for that stuff and it’s cold outside

Brazos Valley Automotive isn’t far off rock prairie if he’s in that area of college station. My family has used them for years as the owner used to be a neighbor of my parents. They will shoot you straight in whatever work needs to be done and you can get an estimate before they start.

im sure theres a ford dealership on highway 6 that should be able to help. i know i fricked my side mirror pulling out of my driveway one day so i just went to the kia dealership over there and they got it replaced pretty quickly and cheaply

There’s usually a bearing that wears out in the water pump and a hole that water (antifreeze) will leak from when it goes bad. There may be a engine management program that stops the motor from turning over when the pump is shot to keep it from overheating.
If that’s it - it isn’t particularly difficult to replace. I’ve done it myself on a dodge. Probably a couple hours labor at a shop plus a $100 part.

My first thought is a cracked head.
It sounds like there's no compression.

This is probably it. I've replaced a few water pumps as well, not a hard task usually, especially on a ford. The asian makes are sometimes harder; they overcomplicate things.
