Mods, feel free to change the title and edit accordingly. I don't have much of a clue regarding the expectations this season. I just know Shewmake is supposed to be an All-American?

Well we can start it here. I have no idea what to expect. As usual the SEC is deep and talented.

All I really know about this season is that we don't leave the state of Texas until mid-April.

That’s pretty meaningless with as big as Texas is and and many good opponents and tournaments there are in state. Plus all the big boys load up with home games so you can make money/break even in a sport where most lose.

I wasn't complaining, I just made an observation.

It has the potential to start like the one season when we began 25-0.

That MMP tourney is no joke. BU, TCU, & UH. Plus we get a great Vandy team before game 20.

We have some bright spots but a ton of question marks.

It’s built like a RC team. We have a ton of talent on the pitching staff but success will depend heavily on how many guys can put it together this year and throw strikes.

Offensively, we should be ok. But, it might take awhile to find our best 9-10 guys to be in the lineup everyday and where they are going to play. So those ugly defensive plays early on in the season are likely to show up again.

I guess my expectations is about 40 wins and a regional host.

You might want to lower them this year. I just don’t see that yet.

It's hard to believe with such reasonable expectations that you lose your shite so often.

Reasonable expectations like not getting blown out at home and going 11 minutes without a field goal to a team that was winless in conference?

I said it had the POTENTIAL to start 25-0. After reading Farmer's comment, that's clearly not likely. Winning 1-2 in the tournament at Minute Maid is a positive result.

I'm sure it's just your fundamental misunderstanding of baseball but even the best college baseball team has to be super lucky to go 25-0. It's just not at all how baseball works.

Know what the difference between hitting .250 and .300 is? It's 25 hits. 25 hits in 500 at bats is 50 points, okay? There's 6 months in a season, that's about 25 weeks. That means if you get just one extra flare a week - just one - a gorp... you get a groundball, you get a groundball with eyes... you get a dying quail, just one more dying quail a week... and you're in Yankee Stadium.

Baseball's a mysterious game and weird shite happens -- a lot

Actually, no, the difference in hitting .250 (5 for 20) vs. hitting .300 (6 for 20) is ONE hit if the combination of walks, HBP and sacrifices is 480 by the standards you posted.

It's not that hard to manipulate a sample size.
