BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLT) -- A Louisiana man has been arrested after police say he ate a woman's pet fish in her LSU dorm room and later sent her a picture of his feces. The incident allegedly occurred in 2016, when the suspect, Maxwell Taffin, was 18. Police finally arrested Taffin, now 21, on Tuesday. WREG reported that Taffin and two of his friends stayed in one of their ex-girlfriend's dorm rooms after a football game on Oct. 22. When the girl returned to the room, Taffin allegedly said, "check your fish tank," as he left. The victim found that her pet Siamese fighting fish, named Bumba, was missing. She told police she later received a text message showing feces in a toilet. She said it was captioned, "found your fish." When questioned, Taffin reportedly said, "Yeah, I'll be honest with you. I ate [the victim's] fish." Taffin was arrested and booked on charges of cruelty to animals and improper telephone communications, but police have not said why the arrest took so long.
