I'm actually tired of all of the rumors on the OC/DC positions. The media spins this shite so out of control.
Kirby has time to find the right person whether in house or not.

So did Gran turn us down?

I don’t believe it. This is fake as shite.

There’s all kinds of things that go on behind the scenes nobody can possibly know about before any offers get made.

You dont offer unless there’s some indication of interest first. And usually an interview.

Gran’s tweet just sounds like addressing a rumor for recruiting purposes etc

Dont know how you guys feel about Chip Towers but he just posted this on DN: (Its a long post but kind of worth the read)

"My sources tell me it's not accurate and it doesn't make any sense to me, besides.

Then came this tweet from Gran himself a few minutes ago, which suggest he's remaining with the Kentucky Wildcats:
Eddie Gran
@CoachGran
I’m all in, #BBN! Let’s do this !

First of all, please know that, here at DawgNation, if there's a report anywhere we're going to let you know about it. That's why we have a team of breaking news reporters who's job it is to inform you if there's anything out there that bears our attention -- or yours. And, to be clear, Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio is somebody I consider a credible reporter. But I don't for a second believe Gran was offered the Georgia OC job and certainly not "total control of the offense and $1.1 million."

Here's a couple of things to think about. Agents put these things out in the universe all the time. I don't doubt there might've been some kind of contact or interaction between Georgia and Gran, but I don't believe the Bulldogs ever offered him the job. Secondly, let's think about this logically from Kirby Smart's perspective. So just a year ago, you thought James Coley being on your staff was important enough to move him from WRs to QBs and make him co-offensive coordinator. A year later, your real OC leaves (somewhat unexpectedly). Now you've got a guy who sat in the offensive room with Chaney every day and in the coaches' box for 14 games, and now you think the best idea is to go out and hire somebody else over him?

How would one expect James Coley to react to that? And it's not like he's an extremely risky hire where the job may be too big for him. Coley was OC and QB coach at Miami before UGA and FIU before that and lots of experience besides at FSU and LSU and with the Miami Dolphins.

My expectation is that Georgia will eventually announce Coley as the new OC soon or perhaps after national signing day. At this point I'd expect the same for Dan Lanning with or without Glenn Schumann as a co-DC. But Smart's not in a hurry to announce that. Again, something could happen with a Derrick Ansley, but Smart's probably trying to figure out if the only way to get him is to make him the DC or will be share the title or be OK with just being secondary coach.

As for why Gran wouldn't make sense, I'll offer just one word -- Schottenheimer. ... I'm not saying Gran would he a bad hire on the level of Schotty, but I would say it's a new coach with a new system. Bringing somebody in like that and dumping new terminology and concepts on an offense that has been quite successful doing things the previous way has the potential to be disastrous, just like the Schotty experiment was."

Check out the fake news DawgNation site right now...

They’ve bumped older articles that were up all day on top of their Gran Offer article to start burying it.

It will be lanning and coley from what i am hearing, pretty underwhelming we cannot make a big splash hire given our programs recent success on the field and recruiting trail. Lane Kiffin or the guy from Ohio St would have been my choice for OC and Lupoi on the defensive side

That made my ears perk up and question it. The only guy Kirby gives full control of the play calling to is in Ft. Collins Colorado.

Considering he's never coached or recruited a day in his life, no.

But he could talk about how his time at Georgia got him drafted 1st round, 12 Pro Bowls, and 5 time All-Pro. That might just sway someone.

I get the whole RBU thing and Gran is a perfect fit for a school who prides itself on having earned that moniker.

That said, we want to win next season. We have Fromm heading into his Junior season, perhaps his last as a collegiate player, who has shown the ability to throw the ball around. He's proven to be an incredible asset to this team and it's a safe bet he will prove to be more valuable next season. Why would we want to hire Gran to steward this offense through that period?

I'm not saying we need to abandon the run or move to a spread offense (though, with our OL, we could be incredibly effective out of the spread). We do need a balanced, new-school kind of approach. With our stable of RBs and a mountain of 5*s on the OL, we barely even need a coach to be successful running the ball....line them up and let 'em go.

I want an OC who believes in the effectiveness of a balanced offense who wants to stretch the field from time to time but prefers to get the ball into playmakers' hands with safe, short tosses out of play action. I want to see TEs heavily involved. I want screen passes, both to WR and RB. Needless to say, a guy like Gran is not going to run an offense fans like me want to watch.
