Truly a once in a lifetime player. Privileged to watch him in person a lot. His speed and power were unreal.

The first game I saw him play was his Freshman year at Bama. The game was pretty much over when DMC took a quick pitch, beat the Bama DE and CB at the line of scrimmage, stiff armed their All American Safety Roman Harper, and never broke stride all the way to the end zone.

I was of course surrounded by Bama fans and most looked at me in shock as if saying "Who the hell is that". I just smiled and said "Ladies and Gents, please welcome Darren McFadden to the SEC".

Congrats to DMC on the much deserved recognition. He should have AT LEAST one Heisman Trophy to go with this award.

McFadden in the wild hog was a thing of beauty.

I also remember the Scar game where he dropped the pitch on a toss pass play chased it down and threw to Robert Johnston I’m the corner for a TD. A true Holy cow moment.

I knew DMAC was the real deal after the Georgia game. We lost, of course, but he rushed for around 200 yards. UGA was a top 5 team and their defense was legit. Was truly a pleasure watching him tear up the SEC for 3 seasons. Troy Smith is still holding DMAC's Heisman.

I watched the 2007 LSU game in a bar in Birmingham, Alabama. We were there visiting family for Thanksgiving, and the guys went to a bar while the women did Black Friday shopping. That was Saban's first year at Bama, and the animous between Bama and LSU had been turned up several notches. Practically the entire bar was rooting for the Hogs, and we were leading the Hog call by the 4th quarter. The place went nuts when Richardson made the interception in OT.

Probably the most fun I've ever had watching a Razorback football game not in a stadium. DMAC was on fire that game, as was Peyton Hillis.

I will never forget that 70-yard run he had against UGA that year. I've never seen someone break through a hole like that (TWSS).

One of the things I miss about DMAC was that he fricking loved being a Razorback. It was his childhood dream to play football at the U of A, and he was Arkansas to the bone.

Makes you really miss that when we suffer through a season where half our team overtly quits, has no pride, and easily accepts and makes excuses for losing.
