AustinDawg,

First off, my sympathies to you for living in the Soviet Republic of Austin....I managed to escape. Second, with all of your sterling knowledge of college football coaching, why aren't you coaching? Perhaps after Saban finally retires you can take the reins at Alabama.....

What points of mine are you refuting?
Against bad defenses we look great.
Against good defenses we look terrible.

Against Arky we finally started giving the ball to the RBs more often. Also we snapped the ball a lot more quickly today.

I'm here to have a discussion. I'll be happy if Moorhead proves me wrong. That being said. I'm shocked we put up more than 28 and am really happy that the Seniors, and those playing their last games at Scott Field had a great day and got to participate and do well.

Ps. If they want to pay me a few million a year I'll happily accept though. I'll damn well make sure our best players get the ball more consistently.

Sounds like Moorhead inherited a Dan Mullen team to me. Good to see us throttle Arkansas the week after going to Bama. Dan would’ve had a couple of interviews lined up the week between and been too busy frying turkeys Thanksgiving Week to game plan for Ole Miss. interested to see what happens in the egg bowl.

I imagine I've been a Moo U fan longer than you've been alive....I'm not trying to break your balls here, but if history is any indication, Moorhead will get a couple of years to get things rolling in his direction. I thought Mullen was in the same boat when he got to Starkville and he took the Dawgs about as far as he was going to take them. Moorhead will probably do OK....I'd suggest giving him another season to get rolling. The hype about championship was over the top but it was simply a means of firing up the troops. One more thing, IMO Mullen was a terrible game time manager. Moorhead, IMO deserves another season before people start calling for his head on a platter. If Moo U beats Ole Miss and gets and wins a decent bowl game, then a nine game win inaugural season ain't too shabby. As always, YMMV and OALA, EHOATAS.

I am willing to discuss things once again if State wins Thursday.

But still 8-4 will be a disappointing season. Which I for one am glad of. It means we're in the right direction for this to be a disappointment.

Next year will be a rough one regardless. If Moorhead gets us 6 or more wins next year I’ll consider that a success.

The schedule next year is a lot easier though. Kentucky loses a lot, and we get Tennessee. 4 OOC games plus Arky and OM will likely still suck so really I could see 8 wins next year if Moorhead gets things together even with all the players leaving.

Well I don’t think the cupboard will be empty. Yes we will lose some Seniors and a couple of Juniors but our recruiting has been strong and I think it will continue to be strong.
So we may fall off a bit but I don’t think it will be much.
Good win tonight.

A month ago I wasn't sure of the excitement Moorhead could bring to 2019 after losing to LSU like that. I know Ole Miss sucks, but the way the events played out, you bring in a ton of momentum for 2019 and that to me is a win win.

I'm still not sold on his offense working against good defenses, but was glad of the energy he brought through November -- nice to see the team focused for all of the games. If we win a bowl game, 9 wins isn't bad.

We should have good momentum going in to the offseason so I hope he and the coaches figure out their adjustments and get things cranking.

We need to lock down the defensive coaches if we can. While we had great talent, we didn't give up many big plays all season. With Grantham's D it was feast or famine.

It's going to be fun to see what we do in the bowl game. With the coaching transition last year, we ended up kinda wasting those extra bowl-game prep days. This year, combined with the red shirt rule, we should be able to get a lot of players some reps and playing time.

You aren't a fan of the RPO? Bama has RPO in their playbook. Clemson who beat bama to win a natty is an RPO team. Please explain.

RPO offense gives you a shot at teams more talented than you if implemented properly.

The problem is we don’t currently have RPO personnel. Need a QB with more accurate passing and better receivers. I’m glad we get Hill back next year at RB. That will help a lot

If Hill learns how to pass block...

Agree with you. I thought the ATrain was a much better RB than Hill. Certainly a much better blocker. Hopefully Hill will improve his blocking in the off season. Hill still has the potential to be really good but he will need to improve considerably before the start of 2019.

I view this season as a success. Yes we were disappointed in the KY and FL games but the way we finished the season leads to optimism for 2019. Realizing we will be rebuilding some on both sides of the LOS but we have a lot of young talent so I think we will be fine.

Moorhead was a good hire and now with a year in, I think you will see a better HC come next year. The SEC is tough regardless of who you are, there is a learning curve and he got better as the season moved along.

I disagree. There were two games State fans wanted to win this year. Ole Miss and Florida. Add in the fact that scoring 14 points wins you that game and sends you to a NY6 Bowl and you're pulling your hair out. Now we're looking at the freaking Texas Bowl. Great. Might as well just go to the Birmingham Bowl at this point.

Beat Florida or Kentucky it would be a success. Instead you wasted the best defense in school history. It's nice to end the season with momentum. But this season was done in September.

A win vs a bad Ole Miss team is not something that puts a shine over a rusty car.

From what I’m seeing we get either Outback or Citrus bowl

I'm thinking Outback now. I thought A&M was going to screw us. But apparently they're going to the Gator.

I think we have a good chance at Kelly Bryant FYI. That would be big for this program
