Board's thoughts on spavital and phil longo

I'd assume Spav has learned some things since he was at A&M. It didn't help that he was stuck with two whiny arse QBs who both wanted to transfer when they weren't starting as fricking true freshman. Regardless, I think he can get a better job than Texas State with the year he has had at WVU.

Texas State boards seem to think it's going to be Briles but are hopeful there is enough pushback to stop it. There is a rumor that Art would be part of the deal and would come in a "consulting" role.

Longo's offense is all about match-ups. If his guys are better than your guys, he will kill you. If your guys are better than his, he will get killed.

He was that way before Ole Miss. Look at what happened to his offense when they hit a good NDSU or James Madison.

Spav is God damn awful

Spav got an OC job at a major university way too early in his career as Sumlin tried to fill the gap at OC that KK left after bolting to be HC at tech (another too soon scenario). I think Spav was still in his mid-upper twenties through the A&M years with only a few years experience as an actual college ball coach.

He is a smart guy though and will likely improve a great deal over time so I wouldn't peg him as a 'terrible coach' for an extended period of time without checking back every now and again.
