I am in the market for a new TV. I want a pretty big one (at least 60” but ideally 65”-70”) with a great picture. I would like to keep the price around $700-$750 but am willing to go higher if I really like it or I am getting a good deal. Also, if anyone could tell me any technical jargon to look for that indicates really good picture quality, I would appreciate that too.

My old TV died on me recently and I am currently using a small TV of mine that is so old it has a built-in VHS player. It had been tucked away in my closet for I don’t even know how long. So one way or another I am getting something soon.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to Wal-Mart. They have TVs fitting your description in the aisles ready to be loaded onto a cart.

There are gigantic screens out there now with spectacular pictures. The two best brands are LG and Samsung. I don't think you can get a 60" in your price range, however. You should be able to find a Vizio in that range but beware, they're a shitty company.

The most important thing you need to pay attention to is the warranty and support for the product. LED TVs are the norm right now but the technology continues to evolve.

LEDs are fragile and when they go they're frequently not repairable. You could have a very large door stop after just a couple of years.

I found a 65” Vizio for $698 at Wal-Mart. Think I should stay away from that?

Vizio is an excellent choice in your price range, honestly. TCL might be a better choice, though.

If you want to spend $2,600, get the 65" LG OLED. If you're going to stick to your budget, the low end stuff from LG is not that great.

Getting it from Walmart is a plus. Just go online and google customers' experiences with Vizio before you commit to it.

BTW, the TV itself is more than decent for the price.

The best budget TVs are now made by TCL, with Hisense right behind them. Vizio held this crown for years but have stumbled in the last couple of years.

Go to Sams club and check the TVs out. You get one home and don’t like it you can take it back. They stand behind their TVs.
