Defense still wins championships

The following is a list of our defense's finish in the national total defensive rankings since the dynasty began in 2008:
2008: #3 in Total Defense
2009: #2 in Total Defense
2010: #5 in Total Defense
2011: #1 in Total Defense
2012: #1 in Total Defense
2013: #5 in Total Defense
2014: #12 in Total Defense
2015: #3 in Total Defense
2016: #1 in Total Defense
2017: #1 in Total Defense
So in the run we've been on from 2008-Present, we have finished outside the Top 5 in total defense a grand total of one time. We also finished #1 in total defense on four separate occasions. The consistency on defense has been the ultimate secret to our success.

Agreed, no matter what turn our offense takes going forward the run game will and needs to remain crucial. No matter how the game evolves u have to run, stop the run , and value the ball. Those maxims never change in championship teams.
