With the basketball tourney moving around now, not always being in Nashville or Atlanta is it time to move the SECCG around some?

I get the Mercedes Benz stadium is new and a fantastic place, but should the office start looking to put the SECCG in Nissan, Dome, NRG, AT&T, Raymond James, etc?

Also how many years does the ScottTrade host the SEC tourney?

I know basketball blah blah blah..

As soon as we move the SECCG from Atlanta, the ACC steals it. It will (for the foreseeable future) always be in Atlanta.

I love the tradition of the SEC Championship game being in Atlanta, which has become essentially the capital city of the SEC. But part of me would love to see Bama and UGA play in Nashville on a cold, early December night.

As well, and basketball is used to rotating venues, not football

This is a one off deal in STL.

There is also one year it is in Tampa. Locked in to Nashville next 7-8 years other than that.

All of the smaller sports should rotate their tourneys, including baseball. It helps grow fan interest.

Tournaments involve most if not all of the SEC teams every year. Give every fanbase a shot at traveling to a tournament easily.

Football can stay in Atlanta, since it's just two teams and one of them is always Bama.

I think going forward that most SEC Championship events will be locked in to a (semi)permanent host site.

There will be a few events (mostly the Olympic sports and softball) that will rotate, but those will be on campus locations. Championships not held on campus will get locked in. Even soccer is played yearly in Orange Beach.

It (basketball) should rotate through Louisville and the Yum Center. Hopefully with UofL loosening its grip they'll make a bid. The city would love to have SEC folks here.

We usually do when they host the NCAA Tournament. Or just about anywhere.

Real talk, I wish they'd bid for more stuff like that here. It was fun having all the ACC teams in town for the baseball tournament.

No - the SEC Championship Game and Atlanta are synonomis with eachother. "Getting to Atlanta" has been a SEC staple for 25 years. Add to that the marvel of the new stadium and the general central location of Atlanta and there is a zero percent chance it moves.

Atlanta is the capital of the SEC and the capital of college football. Moving the SECCG anywhere else would be ludicrous.

Belle I think it is in the by laws for the tournament that it has to be in the host city of Final Four if in SEC "Footprint"

It will be interesting to see how they get out of that bylaw when San Antonio hosts the Final Four.

I like it- Verizon had some of the women's tourney games a few years ago (or was that NCAA tourney-- don't remember).

Verizon had a Sub Regional Cal threatened the Hog fans saying something like if you boo my team we wont come back or some crazy shite.

He had already canceled the series and it was just nuts.
