Could he not have saved his career by pleading that he had a little problem with sex addiction and gone for treatment? Were the hookers for recruits? I'm starting to think in that direction.

Not sure how it goes down in Georgia, but escorts aren't exactly something that normal, highly-paid, high-profile public figures should be dabbling in (publicly). Its not like he got drunk or got busted smoking a joint..

Even OM has standards that university employees must uphold.

So yes, even if they are "just for him" he should have and would have resigned.

He had a morals clause. Had he not have resigned, he'd of been fired. As he should have been. Nobody wants a hypocrite of that magnitude on their staff.

But can a school fire an employee for infidelity?? If so, wouldn't Freeze have gotten a buyout if that truely was the case?

I mean morals and all yea but dude.. we're talking millions in a contract left on the table. If it were me, my name is already smeared so why not drag it through the mud a little more, take the check and make it worthwhile?

This is assuming of course the "escorts" were for himself....lol

Freeze was hanging onto his job by a thread and that thread consisted almost entirely of the public's perception of his moral character.

Ole Miss admin decided long ago that the strategy going forward was to deny/obstruct and fight if necessary. They were hedging that in the end, they could maneuver to more acceptable terms regarding penalties and prevent croots and players from jumping ship.

Freeze didn't resign. He was asked politely to get the frick because he lost the only currency valuable to Ole Miss at that point. Either way, they were not going to allow him to continue.

Yes. He first said it was a misdial to his bosses and public. It wasn't he openly lied.
Enough reason

Wait a minute, your saying the whores weren't for him? Did I miss something? Is the theory now that they were for players / recruits?

It's not just the infidelity part. You are aware that hiring a prostitute, even for yourself, is still illegal? It's not an issue of morals. It's an issue because you can get put in jail for doing it.

Yes. And no, he wouldn't have gotten a buyout.

He could resign and get nothing, or be fired and get nothing for having shown cause for termination without pay. Its pretty simple.

Hiring a prostitue is illegal. Hiring an escort is not illegal. Although escorting tends to lead into prostitution.
