When was the last time a Bama grad was in a presidential cabinet?

Hugo Black was a Supreme Court Justice from 1937-1971
I'm not sure we've ever had a cabinet member? Michael Vickers was the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence under Bush and Obama.

Winton "Red" Blount was Postmaster General. At the time it was a cabinet position, I think.

For the history buffs....
William Brockman Bankhead, Dem, was 42nd Speaker of the House from 1936 until his death in 1940.
As Speaker, Bankhead held the highest political office of any Alabamian save Vice President William R. King.
William Bankhead attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and played on the university's first football team, organized in 1892.
Forrest David Mathews, independent, served as the 11th United States Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare from 1975 to 1977, during the administration of President Gerald R. Ford.
He also served two nonconsecutive terms as the president of the University of Alabama.
He attended the University of Alabama (AB in history and classical Greek, 1958)
He presided over the integration of the university's football program under Hall of Fame coach Bear Bryant in 1971.
Winton Malcolm Blount, Jr., Rep, known as Red Blount, was the United States Postmaster General from January 22, 1969 to January 1, 1972.
Blount was the last Postmaster General when the position was within the presidential Cabinet.
He attended the University of Alabama in 1939, but left the university after three semesters, preferring work to academics.
Even though he himself never graduated from college, he was a trustee of the University of Alabama from 1959 to 1991 and donated millions of dollars to the University.
A interesting tidbit about Blount. He founded and was head of the construction company, Blount International, that built the Superdome in Louisiana.
An Alabama boy built the Superdome.

He migrated to Alabama in 1818 and built a plantation at the place that would become Selma.
And another Alabama native to hold a high office, Condoleezza Rice, who served as Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009, did not attend the University of Alabama.

his tomb was right behind the house I grew up in. Needless to say I'm not creeped out by cemeteries

Looked it up because you piqued my interest. You're thinking of William Rufus King. Just Rufus King was on a presidential ticket twice as vice president (1804 and 1808) and once as president (1816). However, his party (Federalists) lost all three of those elections. He was also from Massachusetts and died before UA was founded. This isn't a slam on you, easy mistake to make.
OP, I think Sessions is the first UA grad in a cabinet. Hugo Black was a supreme court justice. William Bankhead was Speaker of the House. George Wallace ran for President in 1968 but lost.
Sessions also now holds the highest political rank of any Alabamian in history, unless you count William R. King, who was Vice President under Millard Filmore. He was from North Carolina but moved to Alabama to organize the state government when it gained statehood in 1819.
