First I would like to thank Dr.Deaton for all his service and work for bringing Mizzou back into a national spotlight not only through academics but also guiding us to land in the premier conference in college sports.

Secondly I wonder who will replace him? And if this has any effect on AD Mike Alden (to my understanding they were pretty close). Any thoughts on this topic?

Not sure what effect it will have on Alden, if any. Are you thinking Alden would also want to move on? I don't see that happening unless he truly doesn't like whoever replaces Deaton, or he gets an incredible opportunity. He's done some great things at Mizzou, and definitely been part of a lot of growth. But there have been some bumps in the road too.

Deaton will be missed. I think he handled our move to the SEC with as much class and dignity as anyone could. Between him, and a new system president, it's definitely a time of change at Mizzou. If we're smart, we'll look for people with SEC ties to help continue the transition.

I have no idea what the process is to get a new chancellor is it voted upon by Board of Directors? Idk?

And by what I meant by Alden is that he has also done great things for this university and has a son looking at colleges soon. I was simply suggesting that maybe when his close friend moves away might cause him to reevaluate his own oppertunities.

Also who is our system ptesident?

Tim Wolfe, he's a businessman that was involved in tech companies if I remember correctly.

Deaton is still hanging out at Mizzou as a Chancellor emeritus and will supposedly still be involved with the university to a lesser extent. I'm sure it won't hurt Alden too much, it's not like Deaton is just disappearing.

Yesterday I received an email from him. Guess he/university sent out a mass email.
