How does a guy who is headed to JuCo that is academically eligible and no red flags end up getting power 5 offers from Texas, Mississippi State and Ole Miss this late in the process?

Look at his highlights at 6' 5" 305lbs, the competition has no chance because there is no competition. Not one of the big boys scouted him, he never went to any camps. Both his parents are college graduates and his academics are fine. I am sure he is raw and needs tons of work but the dude is a beast and could be a multi-year starter for almost anyone.

My understanding is one of his JuCo coaches called the guys he knew, one at Texas, MS State & Ole Miss and told them they needed to look at this guy.

This time last year he was (allegedly) only 6'1" 250.

Thanks, that at least makes sense. All I saw was his senior highlights.

His senior tape shows a very large young man that is light on his feet running folks down and running over anything and everything to get there one play and then side stepping some little dude the next.

I can't tell by the competition exactly how good he is but guys like that usually get lots of attention before now.

I think I read where he missed several games this year as well.

Thanks

I expect him to sign with State by the way. Not sure how serious the other offers really were.

I would think the Ole Miss offer was serious. Not sure if he is considering OM or not.

Ole Miss offer was/is very serious. Yesterday looked to be Ole Miss bound and today looks to be State bound. Typical of the old February signing day. Apparently the kid prefers Ole Miss/chance to play early and parents prefer State since both were State grads.

Hard to overcome growing up wearing one color or the other. Hopefully Petey can pull it out.

Yeah, Doug Buckles is about the only that comes to mind that bled maroon growing up only to play for the Rebs.

He just signed with State. This feels like a huge get that 247 and others just missed out on.
