Already in the $2M club, Monken, Grubb, Garrett. Not sure if TCU paid $2M for Briles.
Who is Bama adding to that club?
Who is Bama adding to that club?

Why does an OC travel all the way across America after just receiving a raise that puts him at 2 million a year, and, at the same time, risk alienating the Washington fan base by flirting with ALABAMA on a lateral move at best?
Yeah, he was interested.
Yeah, he was interested.

The athletic is being fed bad info. Saban is doing more interviews today, and he interviewed more than just Grubb yesterday, but go ahead and believe what you want.
I mean it's certainly possible but that isn't usually the case.

Yeah, he was interested.
He was definitely interested.
"Alienating the Washington fan base" is not a big deal, IMO.
Grubb had absolutely nothing to lose by speaking with Alabama and he's only increasing the power of his "brand" by doing so. He'd have to be a moron to turn that down.

It looks good on headlines that he turned down A&M and Bama’s money. That can fire up their fan base and their belief in him.

Exactly. He wanted the offer and it didn't come.

That's a side benefit but the long game is to get his name out into the stratosphere as a well respected assistant which will then catapult him into receiving better head coaching offers.
A lot of coaching hires (especially in college) are based on hype, just as much as anything else. We like to think that the folks involved in the "searches" know a ton about football but they actually usually don't.

Alabama fans can’t stand the fact that another coach turned their lord and savior Nick Saban down.

You aren't the one that has to go back and make peace. Didn't Washington immediately put out a tweet talking about "INTEGRITY"?

Any lateral move at the elite level, and being paid 2 mil a year puts you in that hemisphere, is going to cost Grubb some serious loyalty points with the staff, head coach, and fans. I'm shocked this guy was willing to risk that kind of money and perception. He came to Tuscaloosa with one hell of an open mind.

This is 100% accurate.
I'd also offer that Saban also said no to Bama very publicly before saying, yes. If Saban truly wants when all is said and done, he may still be open to reconsider.

Based on what?
OP's claim is based on information from The Athletic, a very well respected CFB information source.
Yours is based on (so far), "Trust me, bro."

I did read your posts. Is this the one you’re saying you won’t post again?

I don't think that's the case, SOG. Yesterday, sources out of Washington were saying if Grubb was offered the job he would accept. It's likely Grubb flew all the the way from Washington with intent to take the job but wasn't offered.
It was also reported yesterday that other candidates were being interviewed.
This seems like Washington sources putting out info to make this seem like a win, but it's likely either Saban wanted more time and Grubb didn't want to wait, or Saban simply wanted to go in another direction.
Edit- It's also being reported more candidates are being interviewed today. Saban is taking his time.
I asked you two questions
1. Who are these candidates?
2. How is it that you, a random message board poster, has better information than the Athletic?
As for the first question, I see no names in your post. So, that question still stands. As for my second question, you’ve not addressed it at all. So, like question #1, question #2 still stands.

Maybe he has a little integrity. Did the honorable thing when offered the interview and listened to the offer. And then decided that since he's only been at Washington for ONE year that he didn't want the moniker on his name of jumping ship at the next better opportunity. Some people are just like that. Or maybe he just liked Washington better than Alabama. Could be a plethora of reasons. Ask him in a few years if he regrets turning down the offer when whoever the next OC is wins a NC.

Grubb has it great where he is at. I don't blame him for staying. Money isn't everything unless you just wanna be a head coach somewhere.
