No, we just don’t put up with losing. Have a losing season, your arse is gone.

So long as it’s public education my taxes are paying for some part of it in some fashion.

your taxes are paying only a few hundred grand of a coach's salary and none of the buyout. The overwhelming majority is paid through private donations

I agree. The AUbusers will welcome his scummy arse with open arms.

Assuming Kiffin was first choice and that Auburn saw him as a better candidate than Freeze, we should have given it.

I like your take on the whole thing.

The undercurrent of all this is that Auburn tried to hire away a fellow conference member's coach and the coach turned them down.

The optics of that aren't exactly great. If it had been UGA or Bama, you have to admit that the coach would likely take the position due to prestige.

It sends a message that Auburn isn't on par with those other schools (right now, anyway). Now, that might be a tough thing to admit to some Auburn folks, but some do understand that's the current situation. If Auburn had ponied up the money, it would've said -- we can get the coaches we want -- because we're Auburn and this is a destination job.

I think Auburn sold themselves short here. It wasn't a splash hire and they didn't go "big game" hunting. They hired a coach from Liberty with baggage. Hiring Lane would've been a bigger deal.

Of course, people will have their opinions about who is the better fit. But the optics of the whole thing aren't exactly great, irrespective of who's the best coach for Auburn.

Personally wanted to see y'all go after Dabo and really send a message that Auburn can get big time coaches. And what actually happened is that Ole Miss raised more money than they thought possible, which isn't good for anyone else but Ole Miss.

In a weird way, it actually strengthened Ole Miss and made Auburn appear weaker (than I believe it is). The handling of the hire was a complete misfire. It didn't live up to the hype, and it didn't send a message that Auburn is on par with the schools it believes it's on par with.

If money was "no object," as everyone said, it should've been no object.

That could be going towards many other things besides a shitty hire that pans out to just want your money and run.

As a teacher, if I tried to leave a school before my contract was up the school would suspend my license for a year and do everything they could to kill the gig I was going to even if it was in another state.

But yeah let’s pay a coach 10’s of millions of dollars to get rid of them because they suck at their jobs.

Then you made a bad career move!

The shite is ridiculous.

Salaries are already ridiculous, the buy outs just add salt to the wound.

I think it was pretty cool the Tuohy's from OM and The Blind Side were at Freeze's press conference in Auburn, pretty good endorsement.

What’s Kiffin’s new OM buyout?

Pretty sure I’ve seen it posted its in the $50M range.

But glass houses and all.
