Yeah, you probably just self-owned with this bump. LSU is about to have a major recruiting weekend

You passing up Notre Dame, the college that hindered Kelly’s recruiting?

Must explain the barely top 10 class then.

So a top 10 class during a coaching change is now bad?

Coaching change was last recruiting season. This year is supposed to be the year when your coaching change plays into your advantage. See Notre Dame.

It's okay. I'll bump this thread when you forget about it.

Fitting username.

I believe this is what A&M was caught up in not too long ago. There was chatter that the high school coach was trying to keep his guy in state and got some schools in trouble for what was essentially a “bump” aka running into the kid while on campus when they weren’t supposed to have contact with recruits.

Someone has to keep up and provide a counterbalance to the shite threads made up about A&M. Be my guest.

The academics card that people like to play when it comes to the limitations of ND recruiting is nothing more than a lazy excuse. Weis and Kelly got several kids into ND that had sub 3.0 GPA’s. In Weis’ first full class, one of our commits had a 2.2 GPA entering the fall of his Senior year of HS, and a kid that committed after Weis got fired, who Kelly helped sign, had a 2.5 GPA out of a shite public HS in Jacksonville. If you have a 3.0 GPA and don’t bomb your SAT/ACT, you can get into ND to play football. Of the 155 players we’ve offered in the 2023 class, 142 are 4-star or higher. There are several other players rated 4-star or higher that could have been offered by ND (have offers from Stanford, NW, Vandy, Ivy League) but the staff hasn’t needed to expand the board given the great success they’ve had so far. Of the 34 composite 5-star recruits, ND has offered 27 of them.

Despite what many on here were saying, Kelly is a good recruiter. He is tremendous during in-home visits with the parents and is very straightforward. Despite being a good recruiter, he was pretty lazy at times. He didn’t eat, sleep, and breathe recruiting like Freeman and every coach on our staff does with the exception of Tommy Rees, the OC. Of all of his full classes at ND (2011-2021), the average ranking was 12th. It obviously should’ve been better, considering his teams won double digit games in each of his last 4 recruiting classes. Coming off those 4 straight double-digit win seasons, the average class ranking was 13th. His laziness cost us numerous studs who otherwise would have come to ND, including Zeke Elliott, Curtis Samuel, Jordan Addison, Chase Young, AJ Dillon, and Irv Smith Jr. (legacy), among others. Weis got highly ranked classes, but almost all of the top guys were on Offense and the Defensive players he brought in generally sucked, so the classes were not balanced.

With all of that being said, he did a very good job at ND. He built depth in the program, improved our defense, and we played a more physical brand of football. He generally hired good coaches and the structure of the program was solid. I expect him to be a 10+ win coach at LSU.

Learn from your village aggy, people.

I'm sure some of you think a July recruiting class troll thread is a good idea, just like forgetthebrain did back in July 2022, but LSU closed 2023 with the #5 overall class.

Notre Dame?

#13 overall.
