I was back in CSTX for the first time since 2017 and there have been a ton of changes and growth. It’s pretty amazing and quite a bit nicer than when I lived there between 8-13 years ago. I’ve always liked it there but there is just some really nice new spots, very well done. Are you all happy with it? On some level I can imagine it having a little different vibe, but I am not sure what folks think.

I’m happy campus no longer so closely resembles a 1980s Soviet administrative district, yes

As someone who just visits 6 or 7 weekends a year for different games, 100% in favor of all the changes.

One thing I noticed recently is a lack of redevelopment along Southgate (George Bush & Wellborn). I assume the power players on Northgate don't want anything that pulls away customers, but some more restaurant options within walking distance of Kyle and Olsen would be great.

As a resident of the area, I’m not a fan of how quickly the twin cities are growing in general. Traffic gets worse every year and seems like theft/crime is increasing too.

But, the population growth isn’t going to stop and the increase has led to some nice additions around the area. At least we are starting to get some big city attractions/amenities since we are growing. Century square area is ok, I’m not there a lot but I know lots of people that like to go. Big shots golf is fun, lots of new restaurants, the new movie theater Star Cinema & Grill, stuff like that.

Yeah, but we still suck at keeping a consistent design when building or remodeling buildings. We should really strive for uniformity movings forward.

Houston thieves are getting smarter. Don't shite where you eat.

I remember back in the day I could leave my laptop bag in the passenger seat without locking my truck in College Station. Good times.

Yep, been a string of catalytic converter thefts the last month and they finally caught the two guys and they were from Houston. Couple of years ago our neightbor down the street woke up one morning with his new chevy truck on blocks and when they got the guys responsible it was some gang out of Houston again. but we've got plenty of homegrown criminals in the area too....

I moved away in 2021. People that make fun of the place really expose themselves as knowing nothing about the changes. Neighborhoods, schools, restaurants, shopping centers, and hotels have drastically increased.

Century Square is a nice place to grab food, and let the kids play. Decent shopping there too.

I could probably name several places to eat and or grab drinks that 90% of this board has ever heard of and they're great spots.

I miss mid 90s to early 2000s college station. On the plus side there’s finally a decent local coffee roaster down in Bryan in the old Kyle House. Polite Coffee is the name.

ETA: tbf, I probably just miss the mid 90s to early 2000s.

That’s where I was staying, it’s super nice. I was also impressed with all the new restaurants.

I’ve had 7 clients within the last year move from Houston/Galveston area to College Station. There is a lot of movement that way.

Hope life's good, sir! Aggiebelle and I still speak quite highly of our trip to Fayetteville. Doesn't feel like it's been almost 9 years Time flies. Hope you're well! #WPS

Haven't been back in about 8 years, but even then it was drastically different from when i lived there up to 2008. i enjoyed the sleepy little town of the early 2000's when i first got to school.

I had about a 5 year gap in between trips to Aggieland. Didn't visit from Thanksgiving '11 until the UCLA game in '16. Even in just that short span, the change was REMARKABLE. And it's only continued to change on that pace since then. Literally every time we go back, it's changed (for the bigger/better). Definitely not a sleepy little ol' college town anymore

Hey! Doing great, living back in Arkansas after years on the east coast. Have a couple kiddos and getting along well. I am glad y’all are, too. Time flies for sure, it’s amazing it’s been that long.

And that’s what I’m saying! When I first moved there it had a nice college town feel and a plenty of unique qualities, but now it’s like that plus some type of swank.

Glad you made it back to Arkansas! No place like home. My soul's been at peace since moving back to San Antonio.

We're pacing y'all with kids, too! Lol who'd a thunk it? Son turned 5 this month, and daughter turned 2. Never a dull moment in my house anymore

Yeah it's definitely added without subtracting culture. Still A&M, just...so much more there, now. In a good way. Culture is still there, for the most part.
