I am both shocked and saddened that nobody in the SEC likes us.

It's sports, I don't want to be buddy buddy with anyone. Bring all the hate, all the rivalries

What do you mean? LSU fans talk about us all the time. I mean 24 seven, they start dozens of threads every day about us, they must like us right?

I'm perfectly fine with being hated. I visited Huntsville for work the other day, and the glares I got for my A&M hat when out for dinner were priceless. Screw them all

There are quite a few pretending to be SEC fans, But LSU has a lot of very seasoned trolls as well

Since I’m here I’ll post my actual, real life thoughts on the situation:

#1 If you actually watch the video it doesn’t come off nearly as incendiary as it does when you read it on paper, and based on that I don’t think Saban really thought he was saying anything that crazy other than trying to get donars motivated.

#2 There’s clearly unresolved issues between the two of them going back decades, Saban could have easily mentioned Georgia in there as well but chose not to. Jimbo was borderline unhinged for a person of his stature.

#3 Some are saying Saban is “warning” people. I don’t think that’s true, there’s clearly some angst there from a guy who is 70 years old and is seeing college football change at an unbelievably rapid pace in the last 24-36 months, which can only be disorienting for him at a basic level.

It would be naive to say he’s not concerned at all about his spot, but I also do really believe that he cares about college football as a whole. Both of those things can simultaneously be true.

#4 In the next few years I think NIL will level out a bit, but it will give some programs opportunities to improve they didn’t have before, of which A&M will be one. But in terms of winning championships it will still be about development and culture as much as it will the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s.

#1: 100% disagree. He didn’t say “schools like A&M are using NIL more effectively than we are” or even just make a generic comment like “some schools we play against are buying players” which everybody would have known he was talking about us but didn’t actually say it. No, he directly said “A&M bought their class” those are fighting words, no matter which way you want to look at it.

2# it does sound like they clashed as HC and OC at LSU, but up to this point they had a seemingly civil relationship. That looks to be a thing of the past. “Unhinged”? Jimbo is just passionate. Every other school out there knows if your program was specifically called out/attacked like ours was, you’d want your head coach to step up to the plate and vigorously defend it. Put yourself in our shoes and tell me you wouldn’t want Kelly to go scorched earth on whoever called your program out.

3#: Yes, college football is changing rapidly, so are lots of other things. You either adapt, or die (metaphorically). Of course saban doesn’t like it, anything that threatens his reign at the top scares him and he doesn’t like it. He will probably learn to use it like everyone else and get over it (just as he did when he complained about hurry up offenses a decade ago and then changed his offense scheme to be a lot more uptempo).

4# yes, it will always take development and good coaching/strategy. Saban will be fine because they develop players well in addition to recruiting well. We will see if Jimbo is worth his price tag and can develop these guys, history says he can do it, we will see if he can do it consistently here with all the resources we’ve given him.

He could have singled out Clemson. Any coach in the South will confirm that they have been notorious cheaters for the past decade.

Or Georgia (Kirby didn't start recruiting this good until several years into his tenure).

Or Kentucky (a basketball school in the top 15 with s 5* OT?).

Or USC (they tampered with Oklahoma's roster).

But no. He chose us and Jackson State because both aren't supposed recruit that well.

The thing is though, it was said as a pitch to donors. He was essentially saying “I need your help to do what A&M is doing or they’re going to pass us”.

The part where he says we bought our class is being used without the context. It was still really dumb to say but it was him trying to urge them to get on it so he can keep winning.

Screw those guys. We brought them more TV sets in Dallas and Houston alone than the entire population of every SEC state outside of Florida - and the money along with it.

They went from a redneck “Gud at Futbawl” conference to riches beyond their wildest dreams. No college football fan in the US doesn’t want to - or have access to multiple SEC games per weekend now - and at every turn, they screw us over.

Am I unnaturally salty about the sip/OU addition behind our back or what?

I am not losing sleep about all the Aggie hate on the Rant, but I have never understood why so many feel the NEED to hate and demonize athletic opponents.

I played football in rural Texas. On Saturday nights, we were at the same dance halls as the guys that we played the previous night. We were dancing with their cheerleaders, and they were dancing with ours.

That did not mean that we didn't want to kick their arse again next year, but their was no "hate" in the equation at all.

Someone had a thread a day or two ago about "are the aggies here representative of the entire fanbase" to which I replied, is any fanbase on the rant accurately represented?

The rant is mostly trolling and just trying to make fun of each other, with some serious hate mixed in, but fortunatly not much. Dont get me wrong, there are several posters that you can tell absoluetly hate us and have some sort of major issue with us, but they are few and far between.

I dont think the rant is very indicative of any fanbase because you only have the most diehard & rabbid fans that live for sports posting, whereas the casual population is much more relaxed about it all. The people on that board live and die by college football/sports.

Basically all that to say, I wouldnt take the rant very seriously. Yes, there are some legit weird posters that have it out for all things A&M, but most of the ones that sh*t post a lot about us are just trolling and dont seriously hate us.
