Why didn’t Falcons tank this year. 7-9? It’s like sucking without getting a good draft pick.

I have no clue why we don’t tank. I guess Blank enjoys being mediocre. We need to hit the reset button.

We're in purgatory with the Falcons
Someone needs to smack Blank upside the head and tell him to shite or get off the pot.
With Ryan aging, a total lack of an OL, and our general lack of overall talent, we really need to smash the self destruct button and build from the ground back up. This barely sub .500 bullshite is a never ending feedback loop. We have no shot at becoming a contender from hanging around the middle of the draft order.

I mean I think we pick 8th or something. That's pretty much a top pick given that the Jets and Jags always pick top 5. Look at how well they've done picking top 5 the last 8 years or so.
It's not always where you pick, it's picking the right guys that fit your locker room that the coach can maximize.

They were in playoff contention until game 16. Why would they?

I've never understood this argument. It's a loser's mentality. You can still draft and develop a winning team picking lower in each round. You have to be able to identify, draft and develop your talent no matter where you draft them. Look at teams like the Steelers, Packers, Chiefs, and Patriots. All pick lower in each round consistently and are always perennial playoff teams.
All that being said, The Falcons are still picking 8th.

Took the Browns forever to develop a good team as well despite picking top 5 so much

With the expanded playoffs this type of thinking should be re-examined a bit. After the Wild Card Weekend it's clear that most teams that were in playoff contention or who barely got into it this year, are nowhere near true playoff teams (Patriots, Eagles, Steelers). The Cardinals were a legit playoff team, don't know what went wrong there, but the point is organizations moving forward need to really know if they're a real contender or if they're backdooring into the playoffs because the NFL has become a participation trophy league by expanded playoffs for the sole purpose of increasing TV revenue.

But also look at each team's management and ownership compared to our's
Falcons need as much in their favor as possible, because nothing about our previous track record makes me believe they can nail bargain hunt drafting.
